Protesters angered by the death of George Floyd, a handcuffed black man who died while in police custody, gained access to a Minneapolis police precinct on Thursday, the third straight night of violent protests spreading beyond the city. Think the entire station is on fire!!!

https://www.msnbc.com/11th-hour/wat...protest-of-george-floyd-s-killing-84063301902

Multiple shops (Autozone, Wendy’s, Target, etc) have been burned or looted.

There’s now speculation that the police officer who pressed his knee onto Frank Floyd’s neck, may hv known & worked together w/ the victim at a club. Warning: the video is quite graphic.

Lots of anger has been accumulating in this country, think this is just a preview of much worse civil unrest heading our way.

WASHINGTON | Twitter on Friday masked a message from Donald Trump on the Minneapolis clashes, leaving it nevertheless accessible, to signal an "apology for violence", raising the controversy with the American president who seeks to limit the protection of the networks and their latitude to moderate the content.

"These VOYOUS dishonor the memory of George Floyd, and I will not let that happen. Just talk to Governor Tim Walz and tell him the army is by his side all along. At the slightest problem, when the looting begins, the shooting begins. Thank you! "Donald Trump tweeted Thursday evening.

The president, followed by more than 80 million people on Twitter, published this message, which can be interpreted as an incitement to the police to use their weapons, after the fire at a police station in Minneapolis during 'a third night of confrontation after the death of a black man, George Floyd, during a muscular arrest by white police.

I took link from rfi.fr/fr, but not working.

In another tweet published by Donald Trump on the night of Thursday to Friday, the American president wrote: "Either this leftist and weak mayor pulls himself together and regains control of the city, or I send the National Guard".
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey responded to him at a press conference: "Weakness is the refusal to take responsibility for your own actions. Weakness is pointing the finger at someone else in times of crisis. Donald Trump knows nothing about the strength of Minneapolis. We are extremely strong. It's a difficult moment, yes! But you can be sure that we will overcome that ".

Trump always finds a scapegoat, it's never his fault.

This is just my opinion: I like the mayor's response

Trump is the POTUS of nobody. Protests r breaking out from Minneapolis, St Paul, Denver, LA, Atlanta to DC, The White House & more! This anger has been burning up for years and our Divider-in-chief Trump just dumped a whole barrel of gasoline on the fire.

Some people say, “Oh, Trump is alright, he just says nasty words but he doesn’t mean it” ..... Wake up! Throughout history, the most evil & vile deeds were committed because nasty words were uttered by Leaders. Words are powerful! Words drive action!!!

Remember that Trump said the last election was rigged despite winning it.

This is a precursor to November 4th, the day after the election. Trump will lose and have 10 weeks with the bully pulpit to allege voter fraud , intentionally or otherwise inflaming his supporters to violence. I predict an armed insurrection which will dwarf the present protests.

On 4th night of riots by anarchists and criminals, the city was outnumbered even with local police, 520 state police, and 700 national guard troops for a total force of 2500—the largest deployment of enforcement resources in Minnesota history. Criminal mobs ignored the curfew that was in effect.

Many different hotspots at least two with over 1000 criminals at two different locations and hundreds more at other places, burning buildings, cars, and looting. The fire department can not move in to put them out without first being secured. For most of Friday night after initially trying to push crowds back with the police and national guard troops failed, 520 State police were mobilized. However, while more forces were organized, there was almost no defense of the city until about 1 AM Saturday morning.

In a live broadcast from State Emergency Operations Center, about 1:30 AM CST MN Governor, Mpls Mayor and head of the national guard did a press conference. 1000 more National Guard are being activated, and Governor has talked to US Military Central Command. Trump put on alert some army units to be available. The Governor has been in contact with those of surrounding states for possible assistance. I wonder if the Army is just a threat since I do not know how they avoid The Posse Comitatus Act

The anarchists and other criminals that are controlling the streets are far different than the peaceful protesters about the murder by police of George Floyd that sparked the riots. It appears anarchists, thugs, and other criminals are coming in from other cities. Some have very sophisticated incendiary devices to start fires. Looking at the mobs on continuous TV coverage, maybe half or less are black folks.

Sadly the same criminals are active in other cities. The attack on the CNN Center in Atlanta on live TV was especially dramatic. The black Mayor of Atlanta, in an excellent speech, pleaded with the rioters to go home, as the events are a disservice to what the Black Lives and other movements stand for - not destroying their own neighborhoods. She especially mentioned the founding of CNN by Ted Turner in Atlanta to help the community, which is getting the story of the racial issues out. So, it makes no sense to attack their headquarters.

Similar violence in LA and various other cities, although Minneapolis is ground zero with the police murder of George Floyd.

In Phoenix, we had or own police killing the same night as Minneapolis and over 1000 protestors in the streets Friday night. They were, however, mostly peaceful. In Phoenix, a black man was sleeping in his car on an Interstate and somehow got killed by a State trooper. The details why are sketchy.

I am especially interested in Minneapolis since I lived there - in the suburbs - all my life until I moved to Phoenix

If u want livestreams or latest information on Minneapolis, u could try the various channels on the Telegram or Signal app. Typically that’s how the protesters coordinate their actions. LE can’t break the encryption of these apps so very difficult to stop coordination of huge groups. When the protestor numbers get too large, even the National Guard units r overwhelmed.

Also bear in mind that some cities may not have enough non-lethal crowd control equipment like water cannons, tear gas, rubber/pepper bullets, etc so given the alternative of using live bullets or simply retreating, the LE & National Guard units should wisely choose to retreat. Nobody wants to go to jail for shooting a protester.

You’re right that there are many opportunists taking advantage of the chaos to loot or push some dark agenda. Below is the Louis Vuitton Portland store being looted, high value items & easy to fence.

Nobody wants to go to jail for shooting a protester.

These are no more more protests (Maybe 10% protest 90% Criminal activity).
How do we categorize if a looter gets shot with LV in his / her possession ?

In any case, when something like this happen in the US*, it becomes like annual
'Shopping spree / opportunity ' for some.
*Also, because of the immigration system, few other countries will experience this kind of
situation eventually.

It’s going to be difficult to distinguish between protester vs looter, clearly the criminals know this. LE & National Guard units r in a really difficult position.

George Floyd’s murder was the catalyst but underlying all this is the fact that there’s just too much inequality in this country & the anger is boiling over. Over 30 cities r seeing protests. What’s going to happen if protesters numbers reach hundreds of thousands all over the country? Who or what can possibly stop that?

Exactly my friend! I have been writing that here for 5 years now.

The USA is the most powerful country in the world. Politically and economically. But that will go down the drain in a few years because of it's inequalities. Who suffers the most are mostly the negro and latino. It does not help that most white poor's blame them for their own situation...

The country had some hope when a nigger was elected president. Even more with a second term. But that was too much for the root of america which is still profoundly racist.

Now the current recipe is a pandemic, a profound recession, continuous police disgusting act and a potus that politicize everything, rejects all blame and insult everyone he can are you really surprise that the recipe is exploding?

Mod: Using the 'N" word is never appropriate, Jalimon is banned permanently.

Derek Chauvin, the policeman who killed George Floyd, with the protests taking place in the USA and which are now spreading in several countries. He deserves a penalty commensurate with his murder, because he knew very well what he was doing. George Floyd was handcuffed and the officer kept his knee on his throat for 8.46 minutes.

I watch television now, and it's catastrophic.

TNB those other fuckers did not care much because the ‘accused’ one was black. Thus a criminal like all black.

Sick deep racism.

Jesus fucking christ. Dude was off to a good start and things went sideways REAL QUICK. I over looked negro as a point of ignorance because this person also seems to think Latino/a/x is a race lol NEWS FLASH you can be white and Latino/a/x you can also be black, indigenous or any mix of the three! Amara La Negra is a beautiful Afro Latina, JLo is Mestiza (white and indigenous), Cameron Diaz is white etc.

But then this idiot says the N word and it became clear he was not just ignorant but a garden variety racist. I don't even use that word and I'm mixed, I'm racially ambiguous enough to have someone question my use of it so I don't because I would never want to upset anyone. This concept is difficult for people *eye roll*. This is not the time to be silent, silence is violence and complacency.

We must reject any thinking of our cities as a “battlespace” that our uniformed military is called upon to “dominate.” At home, we should use our military only when requested to do so, on very rare occasions, by state governors. Militarizing our response, as we witnessed in Washington, D.C., sets up a conflict—a false conflict—between the military and civilian society. It erodes the moral ground that ensures a trusted bond between men and women in uniform and the society they are sworn to protect, and of which they themselves are a part. Keeping public order rests with civilian state and local leaders who best understand their communities and are answerable to them.

James Mattis, 26th US Secretary of Defense (2017-2019)

Today marks the 31st anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. A timely reminder of the dangers presented when the military is used against civilians.

The military is not legally allowed to do police duties in America, for good reasons. This use of military force needs a "sounds like a dictatorship, but ok" meme

I just heard on the news.
They are building a wall to protect Trump from possible manifestations.

It's still funny that Trump wanted to build a wall at the border, now that he gets to taste his own medicine.

They also looted Steve's Music in Montreal. It is such a disgrace when the rest of Canada was able to pull it off peacefully. So many stores have boarded up in downtown including Apple, Hermes, Foot Lockers...

Not exactly so.

The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a United States federal law (10 U.S.C. §§ 251255; prior to 2016, 10 U.S.C. §§ 331–335; amended 2006, 2007) that empowers the President of the United States to deploy U.S. military and federalized National Guard troops within the United States in particular circumstances, such as to suppress civil disorder, insurrection and rebellion.
