Hello Dr.
You've gone completely over-the-top with this to the point of sounding like a paranoiac. Please describe for me any circumstance that is completely under your control and in a second you will realize it isn't.
"Never trust anyone period". Taken literally do you realize this means exactly that you can never do anything, go anywhere, meet anyone? It means you have to hermetically seal yourself up and be totally self-sufficient for every physical, emotional, and spiritual need inherent in all humans. Taken generally anyone sticking to this advice becomes a sad, fearful and pathetic creature. This is not living. This is how a mouse feels when surrounded by a dozen starving cats.
I think we all can understand this reaction to a point. But, by continuing to feel this way you are surrendering the freedom to live like a decent human being by this attitude/philosophy. You were betrayed by someone you thought you could trust, and that surely hurts very deeply and possibly makes you question your own competence to make good judgments. But you need to get over that. She is the one at fault, not you. You judged the situation as it was presented. She constructed the lie and she alone is at fault here.
Yes, you could, have been more cautious about getting too involved in the beginning. It would have been the wiser move. We all know escorting is not a breeding ground for general integrity. But the relationship you described left you vulnerable, just as trusting anyone leaves you vulnerable. That is what being close to anyone comes down to...with your parents, friends, lovers, etc. It's just part of life, and no one can avoid the risks of giving trust. Betrayal will happen to everyone at some level. But vowing to trust no one is complete surrender...allowing the perpetrator to steal a hell of a lot more than money and that's your freedom to live well and without fear. So unless you want to be the type to go off and live in a cave alone, trust in some way must be part of the equation for living a real life. Just be wiser...but do not fear, and never let anyone rob you of being a free human being.
good luck,
Merlot
