Charlie Sheen to announce he's HIV-positive; pornstar ex denies she's also HIV-positive
Charlie Sheen's porn star ex Bree Olson has dismissed reports suggesting she's HIV-positive as the actor prepares to address the same gossip in a candid TV chat on Tuesday.
Sheen will appear on the Today show on Tuesday, when he will make a "personal announcement", according to a press release, but his ex-girlfriend has already made it clear that if the rumours are true, she has not contracted the virus.
Olson took to her website on Friday to assure fans she was not ill.
"There are speculations circling that one of my ex boyfriends from years ago may have contracted the HIV virus," she wrote, not naming Sheen. "They are rumors and I know nothing more than anyone else.
"I, myself have been to my gynecologist at least once a year since we split up and have always been tested across the board for everything and have came back clean across the board every time."
Olson, whose real name is Rachel Oberlin, lived with Sheen in 2011, and became one of his "goddesses" in the wake of his dismissal from TV sitcom Two and a Half Men.
Meanwhile, sources tell Access Hollywood that Sheen's ex-wife Denise Richards has known about the actor's alleged HIV diagnosis for years. The couple wed in 2002 and divorced in November, 2006.
The insider insists that neither the actress nor the pair's two daughters have been infected with HIV.
According to TMZ, Sheen claims the HIV virus is now undetectable in his blood.
Meanwhile, top celebrity troubleshooter Howard Bragman tells People.com he was approached by people close to Sheen earlier this year and asked to help them deal with the crisis.
Bragman says he was informed that Sheen "is getting treatment, and a lot of people in his life know about it", adding, "It's been going on for quite awhile. He's not necessarily comfortable talking about it. It was very hard to get up the courage for him to talk about it.
"I've known about this a long time, it's not a surprise to me. I feel very sorry for his pain. And I hope it's used as a teachable moment for the world. This is a disease that can affect anyone."
