to work as a legal massage therapist cost over $10,000 in school fees to be certified.

There is no such thing as "legal" massage therapist. It is not recognized as a profession. Anybody can become a massage therapist at 0$ cost.

many studios are plain ripoffs in every way customer pays for a professional massage with many girls offering a back rub and uninthustiac handjob

You are mixing a lot things again. These places are not ripoffs. The guys insist to get handjobs. SOmetimes they say yes because they need the money (massage therapists do not make a lot of money).

girls who do full service have no requirement for medical checkups so you never know if a working girl is sick(has a bad std)

Nobody has requirement for medical checkups in the sex industry at large, not only massage parlors. And it is a good thing.

girls themselves are exploited many get no wages and are forced to do options to get a tip.

Of course there is no wage. That is universal in the sex industry. That does not mean girls are exploited or forced to do things. The standard in the erotic massage business is that the girls pays a set price, between 35 and 50$ to the parlor owner for client she gets. The rest is hers and only in few places is she required to offer services beyond masturbation. You may think this is exploitation. I don't. Many of them make quite a lot of money.

many are in the shit money wise and are exploited to do unsafe sex practices risking them and other clients

The number of stereotypes in your post is quite astonishing.

beg to differ.to become a certified massage practitioner it cost $10,000 I don't know what game your playing
not every studio is a rub and tug and those the hourly rate is higher for professional massage

and as far as wages I said many don't give a wage but some studios do give give an hourly rate.

No it does not cost 10000$ to become a certified massage practitioner. There are tens of groups in Québec that deliver certificates. Most of them provide very basic courses and ask a few hundred $ to deliver a certificate. If you go to the FMQ then you have to invest a lot to get the formation and the certificate. But the FMQ is only one association that is not in any way legally different then the other associations.

Hourly rates are not higher for professional practitioners. As a matter of fact they are at least equal, most often higher, for erotic massage.

With possibly few exceptions, you'll never see fixed hourly rates in rub and tug parlors.

JS Black, it looks like you have never been to an erotic massage parlor. You do not get rub and tug for 50$ in these places. 50$ is the entrance fee. Tug is not included in this price. If you're lucky, you'll get a 30 min rub and tug for 70. Most places will cost you more than a 100$ for a 60 minutes rub and tug. When you pay a total of 100$, between 50 and 65 go to the masseuse. On the 68$ at the Angel spa, do you seriously think the girl gets it all for herself?

Mitsou has it absolutely right in everything she says. Erotic massage is indeed probably the most lucrative and secure way to do sex work in Montreal. Erotic massage has become the main part of sex industry here precisely because of that.

Any news of the first place to be closed by the LE? When that happens most people on the business will freak. I figure if this is the new mayors first announcement, he will be moving on it really soon, or risk looking like a slacker.

Until the shit hits the fan with the first announcement of erotic massage parlors being closed.

You should keep your analysis to yourself - no need to publicise it. Incidentally I know of busts on days you mention. That is not the point though - only a moron will give away results of an analysis he considers accurate instead of just enjoying the advantages.
you're fine if you go on weekends (friday to sunday)
haven't heard of busts during that time. they usually happen during the week on evenings

La Presse title was: Coderre wants to eradicate massage parlors. My understanding is that he never said that. The other medias reported differently, saying he would be targeting parlors not complying with municipal bylaws (this could mean anything or simply nothing). The title is certainly wishful thinking, not necessarily from Hachey, but most probably from the "pupitre", generally working in line with the owners.

It is obvious that Coderre will not start a war on the sex industry, neither the massage parlors nor the escort agencies, certainly not a few months before the Bedford decision is made. It was tough talk to make certain groups happy, at least temporarily.

At a minimum they will make the salons comply with municipal law and permits regulation. There seems to be a crack down recently on anything that has to do with the underground economy. Restaurant now have to put the bill on the table at the end of the meal and they are talking about doing the same when you are served a beer at a bar. The massage business can be used to explain a lot of ill gotten gain. Mostly it is the political point that the new mayor will score.

2453 centre hit by LE tonight so be careful.. It has begun!!
The sky is not falling. It began a LONG time ago. Places that are suspected of using trafficked or underage girls have been targeted for a long time.

Wake me when they hit a place using adult women working voluntarily.

in all my years of massage parlors I think I can count on 1 hand the amount of times I personally saw a teenager 18-19
nevfer personally saw anything which looked underage and probably most of the massage woman were 30s 40s 50s.
There are two places I frequent regularly. Most of the women I see there are in their mid to late 20s.

Would you like to elabourate on how your privy to this or is this just a case of we have to take you word for everything you say.

Here's the longer answer.

Well, just listen to him, at one minute on the audio of a radio show and tell me if he says so (eradicate erotic massage parlors).

By the way, he talk like an old generation politician: call the police. Charrrrrrrrrrrge! Do you seriously believe they'll start opening door at massage parlor? Courts may not like it!!!! lol He has two solutions:

1 Give them permits for god sake! And stop the hypocrisy: call them erotic massage parlors. Guys to whom you give permits tend to be more cooperative. He that too fucking complicated to understand? Ask police officers to have them at sight. Make visits. Talk to the poeple. Make prevention. Tell them the police is there if they have a problem with an abuser.

2 No erotic massage permits. They will not disappear. A fraction of them will go underworld, escaping police sight. The other fraction will ask an other type of permit, like therapeutic massage. And them they need to build the evidence, enough to have a judge to issue the mandate. And them what has anybody gained?

Here's the shorter answer. I could not have said it better:

Wake me when they hit a place using adult women working voluntarily.

i am sorry to have been rude with you last week, JSB. My apologies.

And don't you think the answer to that one is obvious!!! The new maire had a preliminary meeting with the chief of police to inform him on things coming. Inquiries need 3 months. He informed the maire of busts to come. His PR staff suggested him to take occasion to make a statement. Do you seriously think they did not have theses parlors at sight way before? That's LE doing it's job and it's fine that way. They suspect trafficking or other form of coercion? They inquire. That's why we have a police.

who cares bottom line it happened and some one took the good sence to post maybe saing a few from being caught in the bust.

I agree. However, what can somebody do about it? If people take chance, go anywhere without getting informed, by reading merb for example, they are playing a risky game. Go to reputable places. There are plenty.

Just as I expected. These raids were not the work of the Montreal police, although they clearly assisted. The RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency were also involved and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that trafficking is suspected. Note that one of the places busted is not even in Montreal.

I repeat, wake me when a parlor where adult women working voluntarily is busted.

"The RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency and the Montreal Police Force carried out a series raids last night to take down an organization believed to be trafficking in Romanian women who are brought to Canada to work in massage parlours.

The raids targeted Centre Maxi Sante on Hymus in Dorval, Spa Angel on Wellington in Verdun, and Massage du Centre in Pointe St-Charles.

Four people were arrested including the three suspected owners, and a client .

The owners will be in court today to face charges of keeping a bawdy house and procuring.

The customer was released with a promise to appear at a later date.

The raids are part of a broader campaign targeting a gang that smuggles Romanian nationals into the country.
