I'm on the same page as legend. (I don't think it is law dramas so much as just the general escalation that already happened.) Sentences in the US are too long.

While I haven't, and honesty is largely irrelevant to the argument anyway, I do agree with Baldwin here.

I don't see much reason for jail time/prison time here. The token 14-day/30 day stint doesn't offend me too much. But overall they should get fines, community service, and other such penalties not linked to incarceration.

They are deserving students who worked hard but didn’t have famous rich parents. Only these arrogant elites would find a way to turn the cost of bribes into charitable contributions. That spells tax evasion like in a federal felony. I’m sure there are many many more parents involved in this behavior. More info on education on https://collegeapps.com/

Did he claim the "donation" as a tax deduction or not? If not, it kind of proves what his intent was...........the feds have already probably seen his tax returns (they have them after all) and know he is full of kaka with this defense.

Maybe these deserving students can thank these children of the stars for potentially saving them an extra $100K in debt? The University of Spoiled Children is an expensive school anyway. These children of the stars aren't taking STEM classes and pursuing useful, marketable degrees. They are studying Gobbledygook and depriving potentially more deserving students of nothing but debt and a little brainwashing.

What is interesting about this episode is that the same people that are enraged about these dubious bribes are in favor of free school for illegal immigrants.

What's actually being reported is that they pled in order to roll the dice that Covid 19 gets them off with little or no jail time. They are trying to take advantage of the Covid 19 pandemic, just as they tried to take advantage of the admissions process by lying, cheating and bribing. They are showing themselves to be scumbags and cheats right to the end.
