Look behind you.
Been looking for a new laptop for awhile, set a limit if $1,000.00, did not work out that way. See something acceptable they you notice something a little better for a few bucks, then ooooh, that would be nice also, made a purchase and half hour later found something better for a few bucks more, had to cancel order and make a new one. Ended up with a Lenovo Legion . https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-legion-5-15imh05h-15-6-core-i7-10750h-16-gb-ram-1-tb-ssd-us/ . Spent more time looking for a computer than looking for a car to buy.

Around the corner
Strange now that I am retired I hardly ever use a computer or laptop.
I do most everything on my IPad or Iphone.
Only thing I use my computer for ( a ten year old Mac mini) is online banking and printing off documents occasionally for mailing.
Not sure if I will ever buy another computer or laptop again.

Looking at the specs that is one decked out beast of a laptop. Lenovo is a great and dependable brand.

Having the SSD as a hard drive is the best choice you will make.

I have a Mac Book Air for which I paid somewhere in the $1500-$1700 range, and when I was in quarantine and working remotely for 2 weeks after travelling to Florida it really came through.for me on some remote pretrial conferences, remote depositions and remote mediations.

The first correct question to ask, is what kind of work are you going to be doing on this laptop? Today's trend is that you can do almost everything a small laptop can do on a tablet. Laptops are nowadays for on-the-go massive typing and complex applications.
If you are just checking emails, browsing and editing a few excel sheets. You can easily do all that on a tablet, especially made easy with the google suite.

Big shots, usually have tablets, cuz its fast, sleek, cheaper, easier to use and very light.

I just signed some legal documents with my finger on the screen of a laptop yesterday. I thought that was pretty unique.

its a new world! laptops are catching up to the tablet experience.

I know a big shot speaker at my firm, all he does, is walk around with his iPad and Apple Play. Whenever he goes to clients, seminars, trainings, conferences, he just needs to provide the apple play, which is easy as it takes in HDMI, and he's confident he won't have trouble projecting from his iPad to his Apple Play to the bi Screen.

If you mostly work with documents and do video conference, a tablet would be a better choice over a laptop. An iPad Pro or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6/S7 is lighter and cheaper than a decent laptop. I use Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ , the S-Pen offers a better tactile experience than actual pen & paper.

The only rationale for buying a laptop nowadays would be resource hungry stuff like audio-video-photo editing, engineering design and simulation. Thanks to cloud computing, even some engineering computation can be done online with a handheld device.

Perhaps you computer geeks can give me some advice. All of a sudden on my Mac Book Air, which uses a primary Google Chrome Browser, I cannot log into my SA account, whereas I can log into my SA account using my iPhone and the Safari browser. The Mac also has a Safari browser, so I tried logging in that way and still no dice. It's like an endless loop- the dots go round and round in a circle for 24 hours.

Prior to all this, I started having issues with SA only on my laptop. At first, when I clicked on profiles I would get a "profile not available message", and it was unusually slow to navigate around the website. Then I tried to logout and got caught in this endless loop where, in the dashboard of the browser, I saw the website status flicker back and forth from log in to member page. I shut down and now I can't log in any more.

It's definitely not a browser issue because same issue exists in Chrome and Safari, and just on the laptop and not the phone. So it's a laptop issue of some kind as the SA account works as always on Safari on my phone but the same problem with Safari and Chrome exists on the Mac. I don't get it?????

WTF should I do?

Don't mean to hijack STN's thread so after answering my question please answer OP's question as well.

Look behind you.
Main purpose is autocad for work but want a gaming laptop also. Picked up Forza 4 plus Crysis remastered for starters. B-box one bluetooth controller plus Samsung Galaxy plus bluetooth earbuds work flawlessly.

oh damn, sorry to disappoint but you realize you are seeking the highest class of computer power; Unfortunately you won't find anything at $1000 right off the bat unless its used and with a friends & family discount lol....you need to pretty much triple your budget lol.
Either change your budget, or change how you want to work/game.
Asus laptops are good for autocad and gaming but way out of your price range.
Depending on what your role is, you could do your autoCAD work and your gaming on your desktop, and only use your low budget laptop or tablet to view your CAD work.
If you are making simple rudimentary CAD projects, you can lower the standards, but the games you plan on playing are extremely demanding.
I work as a tech consultant currently for an Engineering team and for CAD they need to use Quadro video cards, which alone costs minimum $2k and I had a short life as a pro-gamer.

first try to clear all your cache, cookies, browser history in both browsers.
does SA still not work on your laptop even if you are on a different wifi? if so, check your firewall settings.
narrow down the issue then go from there.

The last laptop I purchased was a Lenovo gaming laptop from Costco. Great price and it comes with all the bells and whistles.

The laptop is already purchased, Lenovo Legion, reg $2,400 sale $1650.
Specs are in the first post.
Video card is a RTX 2060, works well with autocad and the games I purchased

EagerBeaver,

Do you have any ad blocking software on your machine? Because I can access eros.com on my phone but on my computer I can't as I have ad blocking and anti-virus software on it.
