Actually back a couple years ago there was drawing of prizes at the parties. It was inclusive in the rate but it was a nice little bonus. I know Charmer got himself a duo with 2 of the hottest ladies of the time that way.
I think the concept would be interesting, but in the case of a board pool, the thing is, how to know this is legit and winners are not choosen. Who would be the person in charge. Even if its an SP doing it with a free session with herself, what guarentee us she won't just pick a regular she like. The only way i could see is hosting a LIVE event and putting the names in a basket showing every single one but that is not really easy to do in our context.
As for crowdfunding itself by way of kickstarter or indygogo or gofundme, here it is...
Kickstarter : Gotta have a working prototype of the product you are asking funds for. I personally participated in the SHENMUE 3 kickstarter but i did because this is litteraly my most wanted video game of all time and i had total faith in Yu Suzuki the creator. Also the game is not just "crowd funded" but also backed by a publisher, it was kinda of a way to test the market if i can say, see if the interest for the saga was still there.
Indygogo : Never used, don't need a working prototype. A bit more shady.
Gofundme : Personal funding. You have to be honest tough and not trick people, but it can be for anything. Its usually for "hope stories" like getting a sick kid to disneyland or something like that. Usually it get traction if you have a lot of friends who share it and donate themselves, then it be share by strangers and so on.
To have a personal crowdfunding work, you need snowball effect and for that, your reason why you need money must be worth it.
