Cyst/Lump on my shaft

I have a small lump like growth on the side of my shaft. It is skin colored, painless, and has no discharge. It appeared around four weeks ago and has stayed the same size despite applying warm compress on a daily basis. I got the standard std panel which came back negative. The doctor told me it could be a sabaceous cyst. I am pondering whether I should have it removed through cosmetic surgery (concerned it may leave a surgical scar). Has anyone dealt with this before? Can a cyst/blocked gland go away on its own?

The doctor told me to wait for 6 months to see if it goes away on its own. I do not wish to wait so long.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm well into my 60s and I have lumps and bumps growing all over the place. I see a dermatologist annually and she freezes some stuff off, once cut something off and reassures me that I'm not dying from skin cancer.

I'm in Ontario, but FWIW, it takes about a year to get a referral to a specialist, although you maybe can find a pay-for-service Doc over there.

It sounds like your Doc may not have the expertise to be certain what he's looking at, so a specialist might be worth it.

I had something similar once but it turned out to be a broken penis. I kid you not. It popped up during a bbbj. While the lady was on my side doing a bbbj facing away towards my feet she suddenly stopped & said omg what just happened? I looked at my penis & replied omg! Over a few days it began changing colors. Like a bruise. It rook a couple of weeks to heal & get back to normal. However since you still have it it sounds different than what i had.

If i were you i’d get it removed asap. You just never know. I once knew a guy who had his penis amputated. He told me he had to after being diagnosed with cancer of the penis. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I asked him if it was so e rype ofmskin cancer on the penis & he replied yes. He was pretty demoralized about it. He was quite popular with the women before the problem popped up. He has since passed away.

I'm almost happy to read that men like to terrify each other with dick horror stories too. For every guy with a cancer-dick there's probably ten million with a boring-skin-thing-dick.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I had an appointment with an urologist last week. He told me it could be a sabaecous cyst and it is too small for removal at the moment. Recommended to wait 6 months to a year to see if it changes/grows in size. I will get it checked again in May or June. No hobbying for me till summer I guess

I had bumps on my body as well and same procedure but I surely wouldn’t want her to freeze my dick.

I'm with you brother. I sprouted a mole on L'il Stooey a few years ago. If it was on my back or nose, I'd have it "offed" even just for cosmetic reasons. Instead, I choose to believe it's the first step in my developing a BBC.

Having said that, if it changed in anyway, I'd choose a little freezing over a peckerectomy.

If anyone is skeptical of the penis cancer comments above, it is a thing...

Of course it's a thing, but it's a thing with an incidence of ~1 in 100,000.

And just for fun I made the mistake of looking up PPP: "Pearly penile papules (PPP) are harmless rounded or tiny finger-like growths that are found near the head of your penis". which according to the Cleveland clinic: "Estimates vary, but as many as 14% to 48% of people with penises throughout the world may experience pearly penile papules over the course of their lifetimes." and that's just one of the many possible "boring skin things" you can have on your dick. Plus it's a super fun tongue twister. Can you say it five times fast?

I met another urologist last week, and he also advised against having it removed, saying it was too small and not worth the surgical scars. Should I just get a note from a doctor saying it is not a sti and resume meeting women?

I think the risk is that some might not believe the note. Many SPs have a low tolerance for anything suspicious (which is quite reasonable). But, nothing ventured, nothing gained..

I don't mind sharing the results of my recent panel test too but I get your point. I’ll have to wait it out, as frustrating as it is.

The same logic would apply to this unless you go to prelib that way you can log on to the site in front of the SP to show her your results. But keep in mind it's probably pointless. Your test results mean nothing to us because you can get tested and get an infection right after (before getting your results) or you could be infected but within the window period where STIs don't always show up in test results.
