As for evangelists like Jerry Falwell, more often than not they tend to implode long before, like the rest of us, they crumble to the floor clutching their chest. Their well-documented sexual and financial excesses probably do more to stem the spread of Theism than promote it. In this way, Falwell, Swaggart and their ilk are useful as comic foils for an Atheist movement that is still in its infancy.
Hello FHB,

Nice to see you back.

You seem to say that the issue is between atheists and theists of the most conservative brand. I don't think so. I find both of these too extreme because they deny truly plausible possibilities. One says God is dictator who demands perfect obedience to be loved and avoid damnation. The other says there is no God at all and we are all destined to oblivion. Both make themselves ludicrous in their extremism and arrogance in attempting to define the truth so narrowly, selfishly, and absolutely. Me, I don't know the truth. But there is a huge world of possibilities between these two and I am sure the truth is somewhere in there. And I think most people reject absolute extremes. I say beware of both in their self-loving arrogance.

Cheers,

Korbel

Someone show me a single shred of viable scientific evidence of the existence of god and I'll admit to the infinitesimally slender possibility. While you are at it, explain to me how come all those fabulous miracles mentioned in the bible & qu'ran stopped happening 2,000 years ago.

I'll hasten to say I think the parables, for example the teachings of Jesus Christ about being nice to one another, helping the downtrodden and all that are The Word, great stuff to live by, but they are nothing more than faery tales in terms of actually having happened.

Hello YVO,

You seem to be one of those who insists the truth is between strict orthodoxy or nothing. Fine. That denies endless other possibilities. a common weakness of human beings is letting choices and perspectives be defined by extremes...easily definable choices? Truths are rarely so simple.

Truly,

Glad you liked it Korbel, but I want to, again, make clear that I can't take credit for it, I was merely reposting it.

Yes, Agrippa,

But you have a skill in choosing presentations.

Grazzi,

Korbel
