Do men see escort instead of therapist?

I often realize that some men come to see us mainly to confide in us and get through difficult periods in their lives. Sometimes, sex becomes only a small part of the encounter.

It makes me wonder: are some men turning to escorts for emotional support they should be seeking elsewhere? Are we becoming a substitute for therapy because men feel more comfortable being vulnerable with us than with a therapist?

I will speak for myself since everyone is different.
When I see an escort in times of need, I will look for something I can’t get otherwise. Cuddling with kissing, proximity and warmth.
And sex of course. But sex could be secondary or primary depending on how I feel. I am not there to be vulnerable though.
Can it be therapy, most certainly but definitely not as such as a professional therapy substitution. Golf, a field trip, a night out with friends can be a therapy as well.
It is nice to feel good.

I think men avoid seeing therapists period but I don’t think they look at seeing an SP as a substitute.
For sure many don’t just see escorts for sex. My ATF is a friend and I have known her for many years and it is not just about sex.
I have never believed that a therapist is of much use, to me it is on the same level as acupuncture, perhaps I am wrong but I would never use one.

Respectfully, given the recent agency busts and potential fallout, the anxiety and fear of facing charges have been overwhelming. As a client who always showed the utmost respect to providers, I have checked myself into therapy to focus entirely on my mental health during this stressful time.

I’m proud of you. Asking for help is never easy, but it’s worth it. I understand that this is stressful, but respectfully, I don’t think they will go after clients. They haven’t done so in the past. I think a provider would have to give testimony against you, and they likely won’t.

Going after individual clients would also cost society far too much in legal and judicial resources.

My therapy is the 2 wheels kind. Sex is for sex and to spend good times with ladies I'm compatible with. Which can be a loose form of therapy since it's an outlet.

I've done hook-ups (as in no escorts) and were in a couple of situations where the other person just trauma dump and vent their loneliness & frustrations onto me during and after sex. Which, sad to say, but is a huge turn off and so many people would better benefit to go see therapists instead but either are not able to or willing to do so for their own reasons.

What a question!! to begin with many escorts are in therapy themselves or should be.
Why on earth would you go see an escort as a substitute for therapy, that is not just ridiculous but stupid.
For companionship and sex and on rare occasions you may even become friends but therapy wtf.
Do they have a cure for cancer also.?

I dont think it’s weird but Im wondering why men would go to an escort instead of a therapist. I overshare myself with the wrong people sometimes but Im currently on a waiting list for a therapist. It is just a question that I had

The main reason IMO is because men can be open and vulnerable with an escort AND be completely anonymous. It doesn't matter how progressive modern Western society claims to be - men are reprimanded and belittled for showing vulnerability and having problems. Men are encouraged to be sensitive, vulnerable and open with their feelings, but, in reality their problems are constantly being dismissed, minimized or outright denigrated. Society still expects men to be strong providers.

Sometimes it's just nice being able to talk about your problems and know that they won't ever be used against in the future.

my primary reason for seeing sex workers has always been about the sex first and foremost. That being said, I have come to realize that there is also an intimacy aspect that is very therapeutic, espcially upon repeat visits. But I would never see a provider and start telling her about my "problems". I am always positive amd keep it simple. If I need to talk about my problems I would see a therapist.

Why are people often drinking or doing drugs in difficult times in their life? For many men paid sex is substitution for drugs and drinking to easy stress. During these times they are naturally more open and communicative of their problems as even superficial attention from a stranger helps. But it is wrong to think that most consider it as therapeutic service.

Question is, as an SP how do you feel when some guy loading this on you. Not the kind of load you were expecting eh?
So what do you prefer? The protein or the emotional/mental variety?
