The Montreal spreadsheet lists nearly all agencies and independents advertising on the web and classifieds, and escorts that are reviewed. I notice from the December issue (which will be on the web soon) that the number of agencies, agency escorts and independents listed have all doubled over the past 1.5 to 2 years. Has this been driven by demand or supply?

Are there more customers in Montreal calling more escorts than ever before, creating conditions that attract more women to escorting? In which we would see increasing workload for escorts, increasing fees, or a deterioration in quality for the same fee bracket.

Are there more women needing or wanting to be active escorts, creating intense competition for the same customer base? In this case the average escort would be getting fewer customers and would be pressured to reduce fees or allow more liberal services to retain her business.

The spreadsheet doesn`t show changes that would support either hypothesis. The fees for most agencies and independents have remained the same. The availability of liberal services is the same - about 40% of the escorts kiss and 40% provide in both June 2002 and December 2003 versions. This is a much larger percentage than in any US city, but it hasn`t changed with time. The only data we don`t have is whether the average escort`s weekly customer count or income has changed noticeably.

In terms of HDH it wasn’t too long ago that you only had a few, Montreal Girlfriends, Allissa and the indies that worked out of Emmas fantasy world. Now, you seem to have a lot more popping up at the $300/hr - $450-$550/2hrs. price point. The internet still hasn’t caught on here as much as the Toronto market, but maybe the girls in Montreal are becoming a bit more internet savvy and are doing a better job of marketing themselves. Supply certainly does seem to be going up, or are they just girls who were already there but not noticed ?

As for the size of the customer base, if anything I would have expected the number of hobbyists from the U.S. to go down slightly from the rise in the C$, or the same number as before but maybe taking fewer hobby trips or seeing fewer girls on a trip to Montreal. I hobby about as much now as when I started in 1999, a mix of HDH from time to time when I can afford it and LDL like Fantasme and Asservissante.

being new to the scene myself I can only speak from limited experience and heresay.

I originally wanted to work exclusively with one agency. I quickly found out that this would not work out for me since I needed more work than any one agency could provide. This may be because of my age though, being 37, alot of agencies refused me outright on the phone without ever seeing me. Their loss.

When I found MERB I decided to post an ad myself independantly and I am working less and less for those agencies now. (Thank you merb.) I plan on completely dropping the agencies eventually.

Some that I have dropped already never took my pic down, such as 4fun.ca. When I found out that they still kept my pics on their site I called them and said if you are using my pics then send me some business! (at least two of the other girls pictured are using fake pics)

Based on all this I suspect that more and more sp's are finding one agency alone cannot generate enough clients.

Elf, as I mentioned in the "$20 dance" thread, people don't suddenly show up with twice as much money to play with every day. Maybe once or twice a year they get a bump, but basically most people are work-a-day joes with real jobs, real paychecks, and real expenses. They are limited to what they can do.

When ANYTHING gets too expensive, people stop doing it. It is the second part of "supply and demand". There isn't a whole bunch more money in the market place today compared to two years ago, but there sure are a bunch more girls expecting $250 an hour. If you take the total money and divide it by the higher hourly rates, you get less hours. Less clients - and no more income.

More importantly, the "associated" money makers (like drivers, phone people, agency owners) end up making less money, and the squeeze is on.

The trend is to higher rates, mostly because of pressure from outside the marketplace (pricing in Toronto, New York, Boston, etc is much higher in general), and because the girls are mobile and they can go and work in these places. That is more of what drives the price up here than anything else.

I agree that Internet savy is a factor in the tendency towards 250$ and up an hour prices...

In Toronto and Edmonton for instance it's hard to find anyone under 300$, you have to be a regular andeven then...

I guess you can't blame the girls to want more money but price elasticity has its limit :) I remember reading in another thread that Montreal girls do lack the language skills (in general) to charge the same price as Toronto for instance. This might explain why there are still much offering at around 140/160$ an hour.

For myself whenever in Montreal I try to have at least one girl in the 300$ range and as much as my budget will allow in the 140$ range. Quebec city still has many girls in the 100$ to 120$ range. I guess it's only a matter of time before the prices are pushed up to the 140$/160$ and beyond :(

One can only hope the the quality of the services being offered will increase along with the looks and the price of the girls! The amount of refusal when a girl shows up migth increase otherwise...

all the best and Merry Xmas to all!

Price war

In the incall business, you still find services for 120.00$ but you may have to travel.

Reasons for lower prices in Montreal in general: the economy!!!
Even lawyers and plumbers (same category) are cheaper in Montreal!!!

Montreal does not compare to Toronto, like Toronto cannot be compared to London or Paris (on a different scale though). One should try to find a good sp in London for 300.00$

Indeed! I have seen ghastly prices advertized on the net for London or Paris escort at 800 Euro/h!!!! Wonder if they have any takers?

Of course there ate the stories of the 10$ escorts in Manilla, Mexico or Bankok :0

Cheers!

market trend

i don't really think that there are more pros on the market but I think that montreal is now in the midst of an escort info boom.
I am not sure Robin if you have a hit counter on the spreadsheet but I am sure that you must be getting alot more than previously.

even here on merb check out how many members, reviews. providers etc there are.
Montreals escort industry pushing its way into the 21first century.
PS like lawless i think that montreal has superb value in the escort area both incall and outcall.

Demand vs. Supply

The market is so diversified that I don't believe one day there will be a short supply. There was no shortage 25 years ago and nowadays our liberal society may lead us to believe the demand has exploded, what I doubt. You had to be in Montreal at that time!!!!
If you look away from the agencies and regulars which are extensively reviewed on MERB, your have an ever growing supply in the 450 areas (where you can still find pearls at a reasonable rate).
Also, how active are all the posters, a visit a week won't dry the supply (the mp fanatics should be discarded for the purpose of this dicussion as the mp field appears a sub-category of sp and overcrowded with foreign suppliers).
