MANY escorts are also disabled. Advocating for disabled people includes advocating for sex workers considering disability is a very common reason why people choose to get into sex work in the first place. They almost go hand in hand. If your advocacy only pertains to you then it isn't advocacy, it's a tantrum. That’s a fair question, and I respect your passion for these issues — I share many of the same concerns. But like anyone, I have to choose where and when I speak up. I can’t be everywhere, all the time, on every front — especially when living with a disability already demands so much energy just to navigate the basics.
My advocacy isn’t limited to one post or one space — I’ve been actively involved in disability rights for years, both publicly and behind the scenes. And I absolutely believe in the dignity, safety, and rights of SPs — that’s not up for debate.
This conversation, for me, was about shining a light on one blind spot — not to compete with other causes, but to add to the bigger picture. Every voice counts, and every battle matters — but none of us can carry them all at once.
I don't think anyone is asking you to carry every battle at once, but you're demanding a reform where one isn't necessarily possible or needed (sex with specific people isn't a right it's a privilege/want, and many escorts aren't comfortable for reasons that have nothing to do with discrimination and everything to do with safety, as in your safety if they lack training with disability, for example). And you're demanding that of these people while simultaneously saying that your advocacy stops at their door step because "you can't be fighting every battle". At this point allow me to be blunt : I feel like escorts getting evicted and murdered and discriminated against by banks is far worse than you not getting your dick sucked by the specific escort you want to see. Don't demand a reform where you're not ready to put in the work to stand up for the same people you're asking to bend over backwards for the well being of your penis.
And before you come for me - I've also done disability advocacy. But your lack of understanding of intersectionality in this particular area rubbed me the wrong way. This isn't a different battle. It's a subset of the same battle.
