Hotels? Why stay in a overpriced "room" when you can have a whole Condo/Apt to yourself for less? You need to try Airbnb my friend. Sucks about Genie but hopefully she can make some noise at the US Open in a few weeks.

The ones i looked at are somewhat pricey.

BnB seem to be a great arrangement if you're staying with someone, though.

One question: what does a guest need to bring along? Do the apartments come supplied with bed linen, for example?

Wow! Another disappointing loss tonight for Genie Bouchard ahead of the US Open...She got smoked by Stosur in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the second round at the Connecticut Open...

Obviously, she is still shell shocked from her performance at the Rogers Cup in Montreal!

Like Ana Ivanovic & so many others learned, it's a lot easier to play well when you're a relative unknown as compared to being an up and coming star with all the focus & attention on you.

The marketing part can be as demanding as the tennis part when a player starts getting too much attention from endorsement companies. Tennis-wise, Genie could concentrate 100% on improving her tennis game when she was selling chicken wings for Pinty's. But now it's getting tougher to concentrate on tennis.

At the Rogers Cup, she was obviously very rusty. The last three grandslam events burnt her out & she suffered injuries (e.g. knee) that needed time to heal. Now she's battling a hamstring problem & the knee still isn't fully healed. It wouldn't surprise me if she needed surgery once the current tennis season is over.

She suffered the recent (hamstring) injury a few days ago. She hadn't been able to train much prior to last night's match against a superior Sam Stosur. The only thing that will heal the hamstring is rest, and she won't be able to practice much for the US Open. So it wouldn't surprise me if she gets a quick elimination at the Open.

It also wouldn't surprise me if she hasn't had to deal with a few stalkers now that she's a celebrity, which must be difficult for a 20-year girl to deal with. P.K. Subban kind of stalked her (via social media) during the Rogers Cup week & she didn't find it very amusing, finally telling him to leave her alone since he was getting too creepy for her tastes. He got the message (i hope).

It would not surprise me to see Eugenie win the U.S. Open or at least make it deep into the tourney.

Well, it would absolutely shock me.

She isn't playing good tennis right now. Way too many unforced errors & off-court distractions. She's also injured & has the type of injuries that will take time to heal. She also needs to correct a lot of things on not only her second serve, but her backhand. Too little time left for her & Nick Saviano to correct these issues.

She also appears to have lost her confidence, which is a huge thing in tennis. No different than sex. She looks miserable & doesn't appear to be enjoying tennis these days. I actually was wondering last night if she even likes playing tennis. Maybe she's another Andre Agassi who was kind of forced into the world of professional tennis and never really liked playing the game.....mostly looking at it as a job that pays extremely well.

I predict that unfortunately, Genie Bouchard will be out by the second round of the US Open. Until something drastic happens inside her head & her body miraculously heals quickly, it'll be a very short 'Open' for Ms. Bouchard.

I think you are dead on, Doc. The night before she played in Montreal she was drinking and dancing in a downtown bar until the wee hours. Her bodyguard was grabbing people's cameras and deleting pictures taken of her. I remember Carey Price had quite a time partying after he signed his big contract. It's normal enough. These kids are young and are getting lots of money and are under lots of pressure to perform and it's ok to let off a little steam. But if she really wants this then she will have to settle down and party when it is more appropriate.

Only 2 of the top 10 seeds left.....Genie & Serena. The coast is clear for her if she can find a way to keep her unforced errors down. This is the year to win the US Open if there is one.

p.s. Heard her being interviewed in french tonight. Is it just me or has her french gotten worse?

Makarova has a serve that looks like John McEnroe's right down to the high ball toss- she chucking it up there! Good stuff! Johnny Mac had the most unusual and clever serves I have ever seen.

Were you there? Where was she partying?

Yeah, Eugenie had been struggling in her last couple tournaments before US Open. She played poorly in second, third round, yet still won.

Regardless, too bad she didn't go further. She could have made quarter finals + in ALL four majors in one year.

Tough one for Genie! As others have mentioned, she needs to improve her conditioning because if it becomes an issue down the road and gets to her mentally she will have a tough time in the big tournaments...She obviously knew as today's match progressed that the heat was an issue for her...you could tell by her facial expressions and her body language!

Her coach Nick Saviano is dead on to say that Genie is nowhere close to the player that he thinks she can be in 3 years...however, she needs to work harder to improve on certain parts of her game to bring it to next level.

She needs to away from the food product she endorses. Totally not healthy food & very misleading ad if i may say so.

Yes you are correct Doc...I did see the interview of her on RDS and her french did get worse...granted that she now spends most of her time out of the province!

I believe english is also the main language spoken when she's at home. Her mother is a british royalty freak and named all her children after famous british royals. That's usually a Canadian anglo thing.

Go Milos!

Genie was beaten by Makarova today; she's very good, that Russian. She's presently playing her best tennis ever in 10 years on the circuit (started at 15 !). Saw her against Radwanska at the Rogers cup; it was probably the best tennis match I'd seen in years. Makarova lost that match, but the win was within her reach. She's ranked no 18 by the WTA, but she's been playing like a top ten for months now. And she also plays doubles, ranked no 9... Imagine how difficult it must be to play 2 tournaments in 1

Now, Genie is learning, she's got what it takes to go all the way and eventually win a grand slam...

Lol didn't know anglocanadian cared so much about the British Royalty, even englishpeople I know don't care anymore... Even if I must admit that Kate Middleton is probably the only english girl I find cute and classy...

The young quebecker hottie wasn't in good shape for this Usopen. She already felt faint yesterday and could have been eliminated earlier in the tournament.. It's her first season at this level, she probably needs to rest...

I watched the match and I agree that Bouchard's body looks a bit soft but she had a real problem reading Makarova's 1st serve with the very high ball toss and clever, McEnroe like serve placements. Makarova's second serve was very weak and Bouchard was all over it, however unfortunately for her Makarova was pretty consistent with her first serves.

She only looks soft in the abdomen. The rest, especially her lower extremities & her arms/shoulders are quite muscular. It's obvious that Nick Saviano has her working out in the gym a lot. Who knows, maybe in a few years she'll have Serena Williams' body, which is very muscular and powerful.
