I am of the opinion that the Lost In Space reboot is very underrated and is vastly superior to the original TV show. Whereas the original was campy and spoofy the reboot is more of a straight science fiction drama.
I just started season 3 and it's not exactly a spoiler to tell you that Judy Robinson finally finds (and rescues) her long lost black father, astronaut Grant Kelly. Since she has been looking for him for 2 seasons you had to be brain dead with no pulse if you didn't think she would eventually find him. What the writers did with that subplot is outstanding. Note that Grant Kelly doesn't know he has a daughter, much less that she is a hot biracial babe who is played by Taylor Russell. Maureen Robinson, who dated Grant, only finds out she is pregnant with his child (Judy) after Grant is blasted into space in a deep sleep and then lost for 25 years. So he thinks his only family is his 80 year old mother. The writers did a very good to outstanding job with that reunion. It has to be cool to learn that you have a child who is 25 years old and a smoking hot babe who is also a skilled astronaut like yourself that is helpful to the cause.
Another interesting note: the kid who plays Will Robinson has grown like 10 inches from season 2 to season 3! Dr Smith even jokes that he is now taller than her and he also appears taller than both of his older sisters. The actor kid is now 16 years old so he must have had a major growth spurt between seasons 2 and 3. I recall this little kid in season 2 and now he is a big kid.
Anyway season 3 continues what is the core plot which is a robot vs. human conflict which the humans are starting to now understand better and realize the reasons for the conflict from the robot perspective. We also see the characters once again being very resourceful under the generally harsh circumstances facing them.
I had heard that this will be the last season but hope they renew for a season 4. It's a good show, with cult classic potential.
