I think French is a beautiful language, unfortunately I can understand very little of it despite years and years of wasted lessons in school long ago.

If a topic is started in English, wouldn't it be best to continue it in the same language so we're all on the same page and can share the same ideas? It's safe to assume all posters understand English.

I don't mean any disrespect, just giving an observation.

Lot of french people understand english but don't know how to explain some opinion in english. Have to partner in my business and they are almost the opposite of me but their primary language is english. So conversation goes from english to french to english.... I feel that anyone who want participate to a discuss over here is free to do it and would be ridiculous to start another thread for a same topic in french. Sometime with my partners we talk about someting in our own language and the other one don't understand what he's saying so we say: english please or french please. And if we cant explain usually the best answer is: Babelfish http://babelfish.altavista.com/ We know that in some case this site generate pure scrap but most of time we find out what the other want to say.

I assume that all posters here and not too lazy to try it ;)

In general, whenever a poster has trouble understanding a post all they have to do is ask someone to translate. Many of us have translated posts in the past and would be glad to do so in the future. There is no need to start separate language threads.

Thanks for the replies, they are very good. I usually try to figure it out myself but I'm often just clueless.

If I ask for a translation during an interesting topic, I hope it won't be taken with any offense.

Oliver, I don't think I was shoving my perspective down anyone's throat, I don't understand why you took offense.

AquaVulva Man,

I have asked for translations of certain French posts and one of the bilingual posters has always accomodated when I have asked. It really should not be a big issue because we have many fully bilingual posters on this Board.
