French Senate rejects Nordic Model

This is great news. Françoise Boivin alluded to it today at Justice Committee hearings. In France, the breaking point at the senate hearings, IMHO, was the testimony of Robert Badinter, an ancient justice minister (garde des seaux), ancient president of the french constitutional council and of course husband of Élizabeth.
I wonder how long before it gets reversed in Sweden. I hear there was some talk of a repeal in Norway, but I don't know how serious it is.
This is all very exciting. In a sense I am happy of what is going on here. It's the first time in my life that I feel personally involved in an important political issue.

The difference between France and Canada is that it was the socialist feminist who support the law in France. They are a very minority mouvement in France.
In Canada, that's the prudish conservatives who support the law. They are way more powerful in this country.

Canada has a little bigger problem controlling its whacko conservatives than the USA does, possibly due to the parliamentary system of government it uses. More liberal immigration laws should be changing this in the future, but for now Canada is stuck with Peter Mackay, who deviously uses judgmental language laden with legal conclusions to effectively brainwash his constituents. I had thought Canadian voters were better than this, but we are going to have to wait for more immigrants and new blood and non-feminist women to gain political power.
