Eight teenaged girls have been charged with second-degree murder after the swarming and stabbing death of a man downtown early Sunday morning.

Eight teenaged girls have been charged with second-degree murder after the swarming and stabbing death of a man downtown early Sunday morning.
Police were called at 12:17 a.m. for an assault in the York St. and University Ave. area where a 59-year-old man had allegedly been stabbed by three 13-year-old girls, three 14-year-old girls and two 16-year-old girls.
The man, who lived in a nearby shelter, died in hospital and hasn’t been identified pending notification of next of kin.
The group of girls were arrested shortly after.
“We quickly located them and arrested them,” said Toronto Police Det.-Sgt. Terry Browne, who wouldn’t call the girls gang members as they are from different parts of the city and met online.
Brown said several weapons were secured, but he would say what they were.
Three of the girls had prior contacts with police.
All eight have been remanded in custody.

13 and 14 year olds out on downtown streets after midnight.....where are their parents ?
I have a 14 yo grand daughter who is fast a sleep in her bed or a friends sleepover by midnight.

Neeedless to say, it's very unusual to have a group of girls commit an attack like that. My first though was: socialization failure (and yes, potentially parenting failure too).

“They’re going to be out in time to finish high school, they’re going to be at graduation. They’re going to be going to school with your kids,” the veteran detective said.

Yea most probably these teens also going to work the sex scene in a few years.

The parents of the teens were contacted and are in absolute shock at the news. If they truly didn`t know what their daughters were up to on social media, then that is shocking , since 3 of the girls were known to police.

They shouldn’t be allowed to walk freely among Canadians.

Revoke their Canadian citizenship and buy them a one-way plane ticket to San Francisco and then give them Uber fare to downtown.

This has got to go further. They must abolish the young offenders act. These girls should be tried as adults and charged with second degree murder.
