Price is going to be shut down, so it doesn’t matter how specific they are on his injury. He is going to come back for what reason? There is none and it upsets the tank. Let Lindgren play in all remaining games so the Habs can see what they have on their hands.

Why??? Carey Price's contract kicks in next season & they're basically stuck with him for another 8 years. So no matter what Lindgren will never be the #1 goalie in Montreal.

Yes, Pleckanec will be gone by the trade deadline. Too bad Patch isn't being sat tonight too.

Plekanec will be gone come Monday afternoon.

Pacioretty will remain with the habs until draft day although he really wants to be traded. Problem is that Bergie is asking too much for him.

This is a very bad team which dearly needs a full rebuild. Price would be the first player i'd trade. Weber next. Get rid of the whole team, including the coach & GM!!! Start with the owner who has no business being team president!

Yep....Pleky gone,,,with the Leafs.

Surprisingly good trade by Marc Bergevin. All the players he obtained plus that future second-round pick will help & likely play for the habs next season. Bergevin could also re-sign Plekanec next season if he wants to bring him back.

Toronto may have paid a bit too much but the players they gave up never had a future in Toronto since the Leafs are stocked up in depth at most of their positions. By adding Plekanec they're adding depth at centre plus getting a player that they can insert anywhere in their lineup, a player who is very good on faceoffs and great at penalty-killing. He can centre the 3rd or 4th lines and he's a much-needed veteran on this still very young team.

My guess is that he's a rental and won't be re-signed with the likes of Freddie Gauthier waiting in the wings. The trade reminds me of last season's Brian Boyle acquisition at the deadline. But who knows...maybe they plan on re-signing him which would explain why they were willing to slightly overpay for him. Unless it was also to blow some other playoff rival from obtaining him.

It's expected that the Leafs will make a play for Ryan McDonagh. But i'm not sure i'd be willing to pay the price the Rangers are asking for him. Maybe wait until the final minutes of the deadline to make a deal, which is what Marc Bergevin did a few years ago when he acquired Thomas Vanek from the Islanders for next-to-nothing?

To me the Rangers trades show much more aggressiveness towards a rebuild and much less acceptance of mediocrity than the Habs' moves.

The Rangers did announce a couple of weeks ago that they'd likely be going for a total rebuild and for the fans not to be too surprised if many of the current 'stars' were traded away. I expect more trades to happen including the likes of McDonagh, Kreider, Zuccarello and possibly even Lunqvist.

It was no-brainer that Plekanec was going to be moved since he was on an expiring contract with a team that will not make the playoffs. We'll see if the habs are committed to somewhat rebuilding if whether or not they hang onto the likes of Pacioretty, Galchenyuk, Shaw & others.

Galchenyuk is still young and can be part of a rebuild, particularly if the Habs get a new management team less obsessed with keeping him as a winger.

Great return today for Plecks, even though the two players obtained in return are likely career AHLers.

The Plekanec trade is pretty much a nothing for nothing deal. I can't get too excited about a deal in which the Leafs traded nothing and in return got a washed up 35 year old center who has some eroding defensive skills.

I get more excited about something for nothing trades, like the Yankees' deal with the Florida Marlins to get Giancarlo Stanton.

Je ne pensais pas que Canadien aurait autant en retour de Pleky. Ils ont maintenant 5 choix dans les 2 premières rondes.
Je suis content aussi pour Toronto qui se ramasse qqun qui joue comme une "petite fille" dans les séries! Lol

I think it's only four picks in the second round, not five. Maybe we will trade some of them to move up for another first rounder.

I would only trade those picks to move up if there is someone that is actually worth moving up for that fits with what they need. I would not move up for the sake of moving up. There has to be a target. I had heard that the upcoming draft isn’t that deep in talent. Dahlin is the consensus number 1 but after that it’s all crap.

Plekanec's role with the Leafs will be considerably different than the one he's had with the habs over the years. He'll strictly be counted on as a checker and put on the ice for key faceoffs. He will also be asked to kill penalties. No powerplay, no time on the team's top three lines.

And thus the reason why teams such as Boston & Toronto didn't mind parting with a first or second round pick. It's not a very deep draft as compared to past years. Next year's draft is expected to be a deeper one.

Kirby Rychel & Rinat Valiev are minor leaguers on many teams, but i'd be very surprised if they're not with the big team next season. The habs are one of the worse teams in hockey and the organization's talent pool is extremely thin. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished the season in Montreal in order to take a closer look at their potential to make the team next year.

I watched Rinat Valiev a few times last year when the Leafs called him up for a couple of games and i liked what i saw. He has the potential to be a #5 defenceman on many teams. Rychel i haven't seen much of but he was highly-touted as a junior hockey player and was drafted in the first round by Columbus a few years ago. His father is former NHLer and current OHL coach Warren Rychel.

I don't know much of Ryan Baun, which Toronto got in return along with Plekanec. I'm told that he's former Leaf Bobby Baun's grandson.

Je pense que Boston a trop payé pour Nash et que les deux équipes pensent d'abord aux séries.
