They can put in Gallant’s contract that he has to learn French, and hire Gaby or Tiga as his or tutor. I am sure that Gallant will not have a problem with such contractual provision if the monetary offer is generous. Alternatively, they can just loosen up a little and hire a real good unilingual Anglophone coach and tell him, hey man, we will give you a French speaking personal assistant and he will serve as your mouthpiece at your press conferences. Sort of like a full time translator, maybe someone like Guy Carbonneau if he needs a job. Either way problem solved. Gallant is the guy to bring in after a roster implosion, and nobody else in the NHL is gonna be bashful about hiring the guy so figure out a way to solve the problem. I just listed two ways.
