The player who stole the girl's phone in Florida is Ryan O'Byrne if I'm not mistaken Doc.. The last notorious" bad boys" I can think of :
The 3 amigos ( Theodore , Dagenais and Ribeiro ) and The Kostitsyn brothers !
All of them lucky enough to have acted wildly and immaturely, before the social media era.

I remember when the Kostitstyn brothers were rumoured to hang out with hoodlums tied to the Russian mafia.

And you're correct: it is Ryan O'Byrne who stole the girl's phone. The pictures in her phone were of Cristobal Huet, the team's goalie.

Andrei Kostitsyn's NHL career peaked at age 22 in the 2007-2008 NHL season when he had a career high 26 goals and career high 27 assists for 53 points. His numbers thereafter declined until he was out of the NHL altogether by age 26.

No player should be steadily declining from a career high 57 points at age 22 until he is out of the NHL at age 26. It should be going in the other direction. One wonders what happened here.

Meanwhile the habs lost again last night. This time against the Ovechkin-less Washington Capitals. It was a winnable game for the habs but when you can't score more than 2 goals a game you don't win too many. Shea Weber was terrible defensively last night. A bad giveaway led to a Capitals goal. On the bright side Jeff Petry (son of Dan) had two goals in the game. One for the habs and the other for the Caps as he kicked a puck into his own net.

Once again the habs will miss the playoffs. This isn't good news for hockey fans since the playoffs are always more fun to watch the teams such as the habs are in them. But it'll be 5 times out of 6 seasons where the habs will be a no-show for the playoffs so i suppose hockey fans will start getting used to this.

Will GM Marc Bergevin wait until the trade deadline to unload veteran players or will he jump at the head of the pack and start doing it now?

Max Domi for Kasperi Kapanen?

The other day i read on a french media sports site that people were proposing the habs trade Max Domi to the Leafs for Kasperi Kapanen. This will never happen. For one Kasperi Kapanen is only 23 years old and was re-signed for another three years at a reasonable $3.2 million per year. He'll still be RFA when his contract expires.

Max Domi is currently on the final year of his contract which pays him $3.15 million per year. He had a very good season last year but has struggled and pouted for most of this season. He's also a small player and many are now seeing his selfish/tempermental side when things aren't going his way. He's also a year older than Kapanen.

With Kapanen already signed for three years why would the Leafs bother taking on an unsigned player who'll likely be sitting at home if he doesn't get paid what he figures he's worth? He's also a player that doesn't show up half the time and would never be on Toronto's top two lines were he in a Leafs jersey. He's a center and the Leafs don't need any right now other than maybe next season if Jason Spezza isn't re-signed. But Spezza has spent most of the season playing on the fourth line (although Freddie the Goat could also be the 4th line centre) and Domi would throw a regular temper-tantrum and whine most of the time (like Donald Trump) were he not playing on the team's top two lines.

So this is a no-brainer: Max Domi will not get traded for Kasperi Kapanen.

Habs beat one of the worse teams in hockey last night and are now slowly climbing back in the standings. They aren't doing themselves any favors by winning the odd game since it means they're getting further and further from the basement teams. This means that once again they'll miss the playoffs but won't be putting themselves in a great drafting position. My guess is that the habs will likely pick in the 8-12 position. This year the draft is expected to be a great one and players in the top 10 are expected to end up being very good hockey players in the future.

The habs are on a roll!!!

The Glorieux destroyed the Florida Panthers yesterday by a score of 4-0. And this afternoon they'll play the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carey Price will once again be between the pipes.

The habs are still out of the playoffs and likely will miss them again but they're sure making it interesting! Who knows? They could squeeze in if they continue their winning ways!

Nice to see the habs finally beat one of the worse teams in hockey! The Devils sure have had their number this season! Many players didn't play (including PK) due to the flu bug going around the team. But a win's a win and now let's see if the habs can get a winning streak going!

Best player for the habs: Ilya Kovalchuk.

The habs will have the Leafs right where they want them. The Leafs have a flu bug going around the team, Freddie Andersen won't play this weekend & the Leafs are playing tonight & they rarely win the second game of a back-to-back.

I believe Hutchison may have played his last game with the Leafs. Last night Jack Campbell was between the pipes and his backup was the Marlies goalie Kazmir Kaskiuso. Campbell is expected to be back in the net tonight against the habs.

This Kovalchuk victory lap is starting to remind me of what Raul Ibanez did with the Yankees in 2012. Just as the Habs did with Kovalchuk, the Yankees picked up an aging but good player who still had something in the tank, and they did so for peanuts- Ibanez signed a 1 year contract for a paltry $1 million. Ibanez got regular playing time due to injuries and at the end of the regular season and in the playoffs that year, he hit a series of dramatic late inning walkoff homers and other hits. It was probably the best one month stretch of baseball in his entire very distinguished career. Sometimes when you sign the veteran player for peanuts you find out he isn’t totally done and still has gas in the tank. The Kovalchuk transaction was absolutely a something for nothing deal for the Habs, which is a good thing because of all the nothing for something deals they have had. It’s nice when the something for nothing deal comes through. These things don’t happen a lot in sports, but Montreal just needs to keep riding Kovalchuk like the Yankees rode Ibanez in the 2012 playoffs.
