Habs lost again last night!

They were leading 3-0 and managed to blow that 3 goal lead into a 4-3 loss!

This is a bad team, folks! And guess what?? They're back to blaming the referees for their inept play! :pound::pound::pound:

IT'S OVER, FOLKS!!! NO PLAYOFFS FOR YOU!!!

Habs coach Claude Julien was fined $10 000 by the league for negative comments he made about the referees after Saturday night's game. I don't recall ever seeing Julien so upset after a game. Although they only had themselves to blame for this loss i must admit that the referees were absolutely brutal in that game.

In other news Shea Weber & Jonathan Drouin both took part in yesterday's practice. Weber's presence seemed to have surprised everyone. It looks like he'll be back sooner than expected. Good news!

In other news the Laval Rocket lost again & may also be out of the playoffs by season's end.

Caps only have to pay him $350,000- chump change for a player who can really help them. Plus he is a good buddy of Ovechkin and gives him a wing man on the town.

This was a very good trade for the Caps. Montreal had no choice but to keep part of money owed since the Caps were capped out at the time of the trade. Kovalchuk asked to be traded to the Caps. We've since learned (from Kovalchuk) that Marc Bergevin granted him that favor since we've since learned (again from Kovalchuk) that Bergevin had a better deal in place with another team where he likely would have got a 2nd rounder instead of a 3rd rounder. By showing him loyalty Bergevin probably figured it would help him re-sign Kovalchuk during the offseason. While Bergevin is now getting criticized for this he may end up looking like a genius should Kovalchuk re-sign with Montreal. But then he's also opening himself for more criticism (if it happens) by signing a 37-year old has-been when the team needs to start considering building for the future.

Charlie Lindgren starts for the habs tonight vs Carolina

Well it looks like coach Claude Julien maybe realized that Carey Price needs a break, after all. After berating the reporter who politely asked him if maybe Carey Price may need a rest and explaining why he didn't think he needed one the coach decided to sit him for tonight's key game against Carolina at the Bell Centre, where they have one of the worse home-ice records in the league.

I agree. And i have a feeling he might not even finish the season. The organization may feel like giving one of his assistants a chance at coaching to see how he pans out. I'm thinking of Dom Ducharme but Kirk Muller may also get the nod as interim coach until the end of the season. He was once Carolina's head coach.

If the organization is set on firing Julien prior to next season then the reasonable thing to do would be to fire him now instead of leaving him hanging for no valid reason.

Claude Julien back as habs head coach next season

Many habs fans are likely pissed to learn that GM Marc Bergevin has announced that current head coach Claude Julien will be back behind the bench next season. Many were under the impression that Julien's tenure as head coach would come to an end by the end of this season, if not sooner.

Bergevin had to answer... he doesn t need to back it up... he s better saying that than otherwise..,
And yes he better loose 30 ranks and having kovalchuk finish down here ( or take the chance)
Whatever criticism can come from the media, the fans like him( Kovy2)), he s a star but doesn't act selfish, loves hockey and still wants to work the boys... j avais pas remarquer qu il avait 36 ans!!!

Theres a new Kid in town (14) the Suz, and Armia the giant with great moves in the corners, weber still as a bit of Beast in him backed by Petry.. I m pretty damn sure we haven t yet seen the best of Carey, he ll be there when we are ready...
I could go on,....the small Warriors 11&13 , an Tataar., what about Danault..et j en passe and still have a star in becoming in college

Problem is that there is no competion anymore in this city.Expos are gone The Nordiques are gone.If the nordiques were still around and if they were going to the playoffs for the 4th season in a row while the habs miss playoff for the 4th season as they will be doing now i bet you geof molson would get rid of his gm and coach.

The problem with your statement is that every player you mentioned has played for the habs this season & they're still far from making the playoffs. Suzuki had a good season but you always have to fear the infamous sophomore slump. Kovalchuk will be 37 years old next season. You still want him with the team? There's no way they'll get him on the cheap this time around. Jeff Petry will be in the final season of his contract and he'll be 33 years old next season. Do you sign him to a multiyear contract? Same thing with Tatar who'll be looking for big $$ once his current contract expires a year from now.

I've said it in the past, will say it now and will continue saying it in the future: you can't turn this team around unless you get rid of the big contracts that are eating up a large part of the cap. And this means the old guys like Weber & Price have to go! Or else....get ready for more of the same. Claude Julien isn't the problem. I'm amazed he was able to get this much out of this group! But get ready to miss the playoffs AGAIN next season!

True, it would be harder to sell tickets, but they probably still would sell them with a bit more work off the ice...

..
Doc H , you have a point about contracts ending and contracts eating, but MOST teams That have stars, and are able to surtound them have loyal players that play for cheaper ( PIT, BOS, TBL, DET ( before) and maybe easier to accept less when you have them stars playing at low rates with the tax issue... We have trouble bringing free agents and maybe I don t open that box.. Last one we got ( not the best move) gomez as we tought but he brought friends that brought us to a 3rd round with a 3-0 lead in that 3rd round fuck... can t remember what happened but maybe the story changes there.. Maybe AK47 becomes a thrue 2nd liner, more friends come along
Success yes needs building but sometimes it needs a spark
Maybe the big contracts to price and subban become bargain by the end of the term...
But still games are exiting but result ids frustrating.
I still believe that price doesn t need a team built with stars like PIT and EDM and TOR to make a run
But one needs to come or be born and others will follow
This is tes a lot of maybe and faith but shit hit the fan and the fans...

Another Maybe the SUZ shoot 20 in last 14 games and hits the top of the rookie point run
and maybe next year he feeds non sense plays to caufield whoconnects them like a scoring machine

Till next time Tada

Zigme, while it is true that many teams have a few players with big contracts most of them don't include the goaltender. Giving an aging goaltender a long contract at $10.5 million US per season is simply ridiculous!! Florida tried the same thing this season by giving Bobrovski that same type of contract and look where it got them: likely out of the playoffs! Pekka Rhine is also having an awful season and partly responsible why the Preds are among the league's worse teams!

A case could be made that giving a long contract & big money to a defenceman is acceptable. But now Shea Weber is approaching his mid-30's and in the past few years he's missed many games due to injury. A case could be made that he's injury-prone. Currently he's playing hurt and it wouldn't surprise me to learn that he may have to undergo ankle surgery at the end of the season. It also wouldn't totally surprise me that he's currently aggravating his injury by playing hurt instead of resting it.

The bottom line is that the habs once again will miss the playoffs with these characters and nothing the organization starts to unload some of those big contracts they're paying to aging stars then it'll be the same old thing next season: no playoffs. This group works hard in most games. But it's a team with no finishers and all this hard work doesn't pay off as much as it should. It's time to change the recipe!

Bergevin told Elliott Friedman in an interview that he never came close to trading Jeff Petry & Tomas Tatar. If he meant it this only shows me that he's not serious about turning the habs into a contender. Maybe Rejean Tremblay is right. The organization is only in there for the money. Sell a lot of beer, fries & hotdogs and the organization is happy!

The Habs are 7 points out of a playoff spot with 13 games remaining. They basically have to win most of their remaining games to make good on Gaby/Jalimon guarantees that they would be in the playoffs. And get some help.

DOC, i imagine coming close would have meant getting a good offer providing he d have to replace them in the lineup..

Happened to be channel surfing yesterday while I waited on someone ,when I noticed that RDS was showing a lot of clips of the Pocket Rocket
Didn’t realize until early today that a Habs legend had passed away. Wasn’t fortunate to watch this great play in the 1060’s when the Habs ruled the NHL . But man 11 Stanley cups with the same team is indeed special . One needs only watch a few clips to appreciate the way he played hockey, with passion and a lot of tenacity
RIP Henri Richard
