Matheson was now playing 30 minutes a game so it’s not surprising that he’s now injured. The coaching staff needs to do a much better job managing his ice-time!

As for Monty he didn’t look good in his first game with Laval.

As for the Habs they played well against the Connor Bedard-less Blackhawks. Go Habs go!

Back to back contre les Penguins ce weekend.

Yes, Danault is back, because LA did not want him. He was not one of Jimmy Hiller's favorites:
I guess Montreal must place value on his veteran leadership abilities.

Fowler was 2nd among NCAA goalies in shutouts last season with 7, so shutouts are not a new thing for him. He was also second among all NCAA goalies in GAA, 3rd in save % and was the Hockey East Goaltender of the Year.

Montreal has another good young goalie on their hands. I wonder if Montembault will eventually be shown the door? Will he just not come back from Laval?

I really wonder what will happen to Monty. I don't see a spot for him anymore. He is supposed to rejoin the Habs on sunday, but i don't think a threesome will ever work long term, youngsters are too good.

Regardless of the kid’s shutout, I have to admit, Matheson is a real workhorse, after missing 2 games he comes back and play nearly 27 solid minutes! He may not be in the race for the Norris but, he is the Habs MVP day in day out.

When we got Matheson from Pittsburgh for Jeff Petry, who wanted to leave, i didn't even know him. I certainly didn't expect the guy to have such an important role 4 years later.

Local guy, workhorse, just signed below market to stay here, plus seems like a good teammate and mentor. Another good trade by Hugues.

Seriously I don’t think Hugues was expecting that much of a package when he did the trade. For sure he knew how talented Matheson could be but, at that level? With his capacity to burn +25 minutes every single game? I don’t think Hugues ever dream of this, and now, at $6M a year, its the icing on the cake!

Matheson is showing everybody what a local player, who is willing to be playing at home, can bring to the table when the stars align! The guy must be one of NHL’s top firness freak!

Matheson was a 1st round draft pick back in 2012 and has been a solid player in the NHL for a long time (11 years). You expect defensemen to age well and get better and he has. I personally think 26:48 ice time last night- team high by a lot- is too much. You have to be careful not to wear his ass down.

Did you mean the Boston Goons ?
That's what they looked like. Same as in the 1970s. Except for Bobby Orr that I saw play in the old Forum.
If you let him cross his own blue line with the puck, you couldn't stop him.
