Hey merb,

Coming to Montreal for Grand Prix this weekend. Visited Jazz Festival in the past with SO. This will be my first solo trip.

I've hobbied all over the world have been both ripped-off and incredibly satisfied playing for the first time in a new-to-me city. Would love to hear publicly appropriate views on agencies (in or out) and strip clubs (not looking for extras at strip clubs--so most curious about best clubs for watching or in-public lap dances). Any discrete guidance on best massages and proper etiquette in the parlor is appreciated.

Hey Lazy, you're in luck! All the info you want is easily available via the "publicly appropriate" MERB search function.

But to help get you started, here's one recommendation.

Start searching and reading. And don't be so lazy.

An agency during the GP? Forget that. Montréal is full sex slaves coming from all over the world. Just go around on the streets and look for the guys with diamond rings walking their merchandise held in chains. Try to go early because "it is said" that they turn more than 40 tricks every day.

I would avoid Montreal Strip clubs. The bouncers shake you down for tips and there are all sorts of hidden fees. You hear so much about Montreal strip clubs but in reality they lack the most basic elements of professionalism.

Oh and you registered 2 years ago and havent read anything since then. I agree with the other posts.

To try to bring the post to a useful meaning, do you guys hobby during grand prix week? I have always avoided. Thinking all girls take this opportunity to turns into cash/fuck machine just like amsterdam to get the most of these drunk testosterone car fan.

Am I wrong? Is the service as good? I guess the reputable agency here will keep their good service knowing you are not a grand prix dude? Just thinking out loud.

Cheers,

Look behind you.
Three years ago a few of us went to Crescent St for the entertainment, went into a pub ( forget which one ) and were approached by 4 ladies out of our league ( sign they were escorts ), after a drink and them asking $400 a hour and us laughing at them we continued drinking and went to La Gent in Marieville.

Thank you

Yes, there is great info on this board and I have read through many reviews and posts.

Seem that I'm just not finding the information about what happens to Montreal's sex scene when 500,000 tourists descent our your beautiful city. Do prices double or triple? Do some clubs or providers--you probably know which--seek ways to rip-off the tourists? Do agencies shut down or only see regulars?

Yes prices for good restaurants and hotels double and triple that week.
Those who`ve experienced it before tend to stay away....except for guys who have money to burn.

One escort friend of mine who normally charges 300 an hour was charging 400 and one guy with money to burn gave her a 600 tip. Said he only had thousand dollar bills ......US by the way.

Thanks for the post about the bouncers and fees. Do the bouncers have any real sway over what happens in the clubs? In US clubs with extras the bouncer/manager can keep a dancer from building a "fort" for playtime. Since many of your clubs have private rooms, I would think this isn't a concern.

Like all of us who play, I've met many a manager or bouncer on a power trip. As long as I keep the bartender or waitress and dancers happy, I've found that the bouncer will back off.

I hope she took the $1,000 bill to a rare currency dealer. US $1,000 was last printed in 1945 and ended circulation in 1969. Collectors will pay at least double face value.

lol....she had way more fun pulling other stuff than chains.
BTW thousand dollar bills have been out of circulation for over 10 years in Canada but close to a million of them are being hoarded.

No, agencies and indies do not change their prices during the GP or any other event. And it's not 500K tourists who attend the GP.

More than half of the 90K race fans live within the greater MTL area or live within an easy drive of the city (Ottawa or nearby Quebec cities). There are probably about 25K race fans who fly or drive in to MTL from the U.S., Europe and the rest of the world. Some of them are women or men with families. Some are men mainly interested in the race and who have no interest in seeing an escort and may not even be aware that Montreal has a thriving sex industry. The actual number of horny men coming to the GP who are potential clients of sex workers is only slightly larger than the number who come to Montreal for other major events such as a big conference or festival.

No, not the providers, massage parlors and strip clubs reviewed here. You can easily get scammed or ripped off anytime in Montreal, but that will happen only if you patronize girls who advertise only on free websites like BP.

Do agencies shut down or only see regulars?

No, agencies operate normally. Some girls may prefer not to work during the GP week while other girls see an opportunity to be busy and make extra money.

There are lots of myths about what happens with the sex industry during the GP. Most of the myths, especially those about "sex trafficking" are spread by anti-prostitution organizations and individuals. They take advantage of the attention focused on Montreal during the race to spread their propaganda.

Some members of MERB also spread misleading information about how the sex business works during the GP weekend. In fact, based on my own experience attending quite a few GP weekends, I know that the business operates pretty much as it always does during a busy time. There is a small increase in demand for escorts (not nearly as big as many people assume), but there is also probably an increase in supply (and the increase comes from girls already working as escorts and not from "trafficked" girls).

The one thing that does impact the sex business during the GP weekend is an increase in traffic jams, especially at night There are closings of certain streets (Crescent, part of Maisonneuve, Peel), a general increase of people cruising around in their cars and lots of events going on. The downtown becomes very crowded with cars and people, which slows down the flow of traffic throughout downtown. The effect on the escort industry is to make it harder for drivers and escorts to move around the city and make it to encounters at the scheduled time.

My advice to clients during the GP weekend would be:

1. Consider using incalls to avoid the problem of traffic delaying your girl.
2. Don't be set on seeing any particular girl. She may not be working or she may be booked.
3. Don't wait until the last minute to make your plans. Make a plan early for later in the day.
4. Be flexible about agencies and girls. You may have to try an agency or girl you haven't used before. Don't count on booking the most popular girl in the most popular agency. Don't be afraid to try an unreviewed girl, esp. if she works for a good agency and her description matches your preferences. There are lots of great, undiscovered girls out there who are still flying under the radar.
5. Consider booking an indy girl in advance. You can lock in an indy for a certain day and time more easily than you can with an agency girl.
7. Always have a back up plan.

Went to the track all 3 days last year. Friday was a GREAT day.....weather was perfect and crowd was pretty sparse for practice sessions. Saturday was a rainy day and Sunday was cold (lots of people with winter jackets).

It is still a week out but lining up to the opposite. Forecasted to rain Friday/Saturday with Sunday being a very pleasant sunny day (25 C).

If you are thinking about going, metal seats are very uncomfortable so plan to bring a cushion at a minimum.

Yes prices for good restaurants and hotels double and triple that week.

Though it's true that many hotels increase prices to the highest levels of the year (yes, by as much as 200-300%), it is not true that restaurants "double or triple" their menu prices. This is a typical myth about Grand Prix weekend.

Some restaurants that also function as clubs do hold special events and they charge a premium for those events. The price reflects a special event and special menu. Furthermore, restaurants are crowded and it's hard to get a seat at peak times. Either make a reservation or show up at off hours. But it is not true that "good" restaurants double or triple their menu prices.

Granted that Montreal strip clubs are not as numerous and as good as they used to be, but there are still some good ones, especially when compared to U.S. clubs. It is not true that "The bouncers shake you down for tips and there are all sorts of hidden fees." Another GP weekend myth.

Take the example of the Downtown Club on Ste. Catherine. It doesn't have the best roster of girls in the city, but I always meet a couple girls that I like when I occasionally go there.

The entry fee is $5 CDN and you need to tip the bouncer $1-2 when he shows you to a seat. In addition, there is a $5 fee to take a girl into the private dance area. Dances at the DT Club are still $10/dance. There is no "shakedown" and there are no "hidden fees."

A few girls may try to miscount the dances. Just count them out loud to the girl as you go along and she won't rip you off.
