PRE_COVID: In 2019, a total of 2,854,838 resident deaths were registered in the United States, yielding a crude death rate of 869.7 per 100,000 population .
So roughly speaking, There are usually 2,8 millions deaths in USA by year.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused approximately 375,000 deaths in the United States during 2020. Note: COVID appeared in march 2020...
So in 2020 COVID represented 13% of all mortality in US.
When a single condition causes 13% of all fatalities, it is important.

I never said it was not important, I was just saying these deaths are about close to other deaths to be expected from things like heart disease and cancer. The death rates are not alarming at all, the rates are still low. From the link you posted, heart disease was the number one cause of mortality in 2020. There are a certain number of deaths to be expected per year from various things and the deaths from covid were not totally out of whack with death rates from other causes. But this is not a valid reason to turn the world upside down with covid mandates and lockdowns. I still maintain and strongly oppose covid mandates. I do support educating the public on ways they can protect themselves but the decision has to be individual, not decided by the government. I also support vaccines, but again taking the shot should be voluntary, not coerced by the government with the vaccine passport (Or In Legault's case with a vaccine tax). Do we force mandates for people to exercise and eat healthy in order to reduce heart disease? In essence I oppose coercion.

I posted in the Trudeau thread, $15 billion of covid benefits were handed out to ineligible employers and the Liberal government has no plans to recover it (instead they will jack taxes up and print more bills thus inflation). All it did it raised the cost of living much higher for the average person while politicians live like kings spending taxpayers money like no end. But I will go no further in debating this because I think I am hijacking this thread. This should be moved to the covid thread.
