Hotels for outcalls in downtown

I know this subject has been discussed at length before and I did a search but am still not totally satisfied. I'm looking for following:
1) downtown core
2) <$200 per night
3) accomodating for business traveller (i.e. work desk, high speed internet)
4) nice bathroom
5) preferably has a bar that has TV viewing (sporting events)
6) underground parking
7) small bar fridge
8) sp friendly!

Clarion Suites looked good but is totally booked, tossing up between Delta Montreal and Sofitel. Any other suggestions? Thx.

Delta, Omni and the Hyatt are my personal favorites and they fit your criteria. The best thing about Hyatt is that it is above the mall, you cna get cash, booze, food and everything within 5 minutes..
PS: I'ld Priceline it...you should be able to get these hotels for less than $100..

Thanks Rambo. I was on Priceline before the prices were quoted in US and were astronomical - $178 U.S. for a standard room at the Sheraton for example. I don't know where you are seeing these low prices of less than $100. Forgive me for being a tad stupid but I've never used priceline before. BTW, I'm in Canada is it different for us up here.

IMHO, Hyatt bathroom sucked for relaxing with a SP, nevermind duo. Small bathtub. Very dark. Even the Days Inn on Guy had it better. The room I stayed for two days didnt have fridge either. Good location. If you are an old fart, not having to walk in snow slush counts for alot , I guess.

I just checked Expedia, and it seems Clarion is available. Harlem Globe Trotter(sp?) stays here when they come in town. Last time I stayed there, their presence made me feel a bit threatened. One of the guy asked me, rudely, if I was having a good time

I booked St Sulpice last week at $160 Can and Hotel X1X at $140 Cdn week bekore...

Both, nice boutique hotel in Downtown Montreal . Both SP frienly....

Thanks for the input h2c. The staff should keep there mouths shut if they don't have anything good to say. Its none of their business as long as what you are doing isn't illegal. I don't think 2 willing parties exchanging money for pleasure in a private setting counts as being illegal.

Days Inn

Days Inn on the Rene-Le. is good hotel, SP friendly, no problems at all but a little distance for the city center. Its right next to the Holiday Inn Express.

Hey, did you find a hotel room?

Here is what I found in my own search for a hotel room this week (it is party time - hey Ronnie, you gonna come over?!)

Loews - 169$/night :
I like the Loews, I think the bathrooms there are the tops, the draw back is that you have to go down and meet your guest.

Hilton Bonaventure - 179$/night :
I like the Hilton, well, I just like Hiltons period, i always get great service and have never had a problem.

InterContinentel - 162$/night : The InterContinental has some nice rooms too, which I can appreciate and it is located in Old Montreal - ideal in the summer, but the wintertime, it doesn't do anything for me.

I still haven't made up my mind where yet - they are all well located, highly rated and suitable places to stay.

Try Hotel Montagne ...

I recently booked a 4-Day weekend stay at L'Hotel de la Montagne through the Expedia website and I got rates from around $150 for the weeknight portion of my stay then up to the $180 range for Fri. & Sat. nights.

The room with a king-size bed was larger than I expected & also had a balcony with a view of Crescent St. The bathroom had plenty of space as well (separate tub & shower, too). It was more than ample accomodations for entertaining a female guest for a few hours. And the king-size bed gave us plenty of territory to work with too

There's a corridor that connects the Lobby to a bar called Thursday's which is pretty popular w/ travellers & locals. Also in the summer there's a rooftop bar called Terrasse Magnetique (or something like that) that's great to hang out at either during the day to chill by the pool or at night. It gets crowded on weekends and there's usually a line for the elevator going up but if you're a guest staying there you get to skip the line.

PS - Another plus is the fact that you're staying one block away from all the restaurants, bars, & clubs on Crescent St.

So far I only have found Holiday Inn mid town and Gouverner which are in 160-170 range and I also have to pay for my rental car for overnight parking. Does anyone know how these two places are or have any other suggestions. Thanks, Mac

You should be able to get a 3 star hotel on Priceline in the neighborhood of $65(USD) in the next few weeks, so it is borderline insanity to even consider those deals. The Hyatt, Delta, Sheraton, Holiday Inn Select or possibly the Novotel are the PL 3 stars you will potentially get through the bidding method on PL. All are downtown hotels.

There is no reason to be ripped off if you don't want to be ripped off. If you make one of these deals or one of the ones Anik suggested, I have to assume you enjoy being ripped off.

This is insanity. I got the Hotel I-C for $120 on Priceline during the Jazz Festival and that was way overpriced. There is absolutely no reason to be spending this much money on the I-C. It is madness!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Truthfully, that hotel is overrated and the air conditioning is not up to par, and if the weather gets hot next week it could be a very unpleasant stay.

Right now you can probably get the Omni or the Hilton B or possibly the Hotel I-C for under $100 on PL via bidding method. Just say no to rip off deals, Anik!

Frankly, i find that the Inter-Continental stinks and i wouldn't even want it even if i would be paying $50 for it. I stayed there once & if i'm lucky, never again. Much better options all across the city, including several hotels that are in the 3-star range.

I just came back from a trip from the Hyatt at 66$ US/night. It was quite SP friendly, and the only issue is the poorly lit and small bathroom. Very good gym (in some ways even better then the regular gym I frequent) and very conveniently located.

Thanks you all for your comments. Believe me, I did the search both at MERB and on the net. I don't know what I didn't see the Holiday Inn post which only had the web site. I also think it is crazy to pay so much for the hotel where I can spend the money on beautiful women.

I am planning to drive a rental car from Vermont to Montreal and back and I have to also pay for the parking which is also waste of money unless there is a bus or train I can take from VT to Montreal.

I am concernned if I bet on price line I end up with some hotel that I may not care for or it is not downtown, etc. I don't have many opportunities to come to Montreal and I need to make sure this trip is going to be very well planned. Am I being too cautious?

I am running out of time though and have to finlaize my hotel since I have to also finish my search on SP.

The only issue is the poorly lit and small bathroom.

Firebot, I would agree that this is the one thing you can pick on with the Hyatt. Personally I don't need a real big crapper. I need just enough room to take a shower and do my business. The lighting is a bit of a problem, however, especially when you are shaving and grooming. I prefer a big bedroom and small bathroom to small bedroom and bigger bathroom.

I stayed there on a recent business trip I don't think it was that bad. It hooks up to the Metro underneath, the breakfast buffet in the morning was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the size of the room - very small for the price.
