This is what I mean when I say that...

Omni has no class with SPs. They will sneak remarks and have stupid grins on their face.

Valets making comments to the gentlemen about their "beautiful young companion" is not unusual there.

Enough to not want to go, those people don't know what is privacy (and class).
... the women have too much visibility coming and going from this hotel.

There is no way to enter/exit without being seen.

Or can one enter via the restaurant?

Glad to see that you are back in the "swing of things", so to speak, Helene.

This is quite true. One of my good friends who regularly stays at the Omni often gets quizzed on whom the women he sees are (by the doormen/valets). He got irritated a few months ago when one of the employees he doesn't particularly like began to make derogative remarks about an sp he also considers to be a good friend. When he told me the story about what had happened, he said "why don't they just do their jobs & mind their own fucking business?" Couldn't agree with him more.

On another note, strange things have happened at the Omni. One evening when i was sitting in the lobby with friends, a young blond woman (sp) whom i hadn't been in touch with for over a year suddenly walked up to me & began asking me why i hadn't called her for so long & why i hadn't told her i'd be in town. I then remembered the ol' Rick Blaine line: "Of all the gin joints in all of the world, she walks into mine."

Another time, one of the maids who noticed that there was a lot of female guests visiting my friend's room finally suggested to him that he meet her daughter (for a price), showed him pictures of her (she was quite cute, he said) & told him some sad story about their financial struggles ever since they had moved to Canada & how he could really help them by agreeing to see her daughter. Why don't those things every happen to me?

The Omni, needs major renovation. It was wonderful when it was a 4 Seasons, decent when a Westin. Since then, the owners have invested very little money. Service sucks as employee are not motivated.
They are so many good boutique hotels to choose from.
Across from the Omni, you have a superb Sofitel and one street east, you have the Hotel Germain. I agree that they both are more expensive than the Omni, but when coming to Montreal, do it right.

liked the douch potty in my room. never saw one before. the bathrooms are cool.
.. bidet instead of douch potty.

Almost never seen in North America, very European.

At Partytreff Dolce Vita in Wagenfeld (Germany), the first floor bathroom was a unisex one (they've renovated it since) and the bidets were right there in the open.

So the girls basically would wash up after their sessions right there in full view of anyone who was interested in watching them go through this ritual.

Evidently we have the same feeling on alot of hotels in Montreal. The ones you mentioned are also on my not to stay in list. I loved the Hilton Bonaventure when I was getting it as a 3* for $35/night on PL. But a 4*...HA, far from it!

True. I also liked it once when they gave me a suite instead of a regular room (without even having asked for it). Another hotel i'll add to the list of the ones i really hate is the Holiday Inn Select. I hate it even more than the Hilton!!

So what hotels would you recommend that are on your "stay" list. I will be up for a Habs game in a few weeks and need to book a hotel ASAP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The 5 closest hotels to the Bell Center are:

1) Sheraton Center
2) Best Western Europa
2) Novotel
3) Marriott Chateau Champlain
4) Hilton Bonaventure

I have stayed at the Omni quite a few times, and never seen any of these problems. Every time I use the mini-bar I am not charged, and I scrutinize my next 2-3 credit card bills to make sure.

However, I am ready for a change on my next trip (want to try something new). I am thinking about HDLM, how does it measure up vs the Omni? I can't see any loveseats in the pictures they have of the rooms, and I am quite fond of those (great for making out with an SP).

Personally, i find the HDLM a far better option than the Omni. In my opinion, it's a better looking hotel, the lobby is very lively, there's a great patio/pool bar on the rooftop & you can't beat the location. There are also a couple of good restaurants within the premises & so many others in the area. There's a tunnel that connects to Thursday's on Crescent street, which you can also use if you simply want to take a shortcut to Crescent. For me, the drawbacks were no gym, elevators are small & during the summer, lineups at the elevator during the evening. You can bypass the lineup by showing the attendant your room key (and use the other elevator in the process), but keep this in mind if you've decided to order room service at night & especially from Thursday to Sunday if the weather's nice outside. Other than that, it's a great place to stay at. There's also the Vogue bar across the street which is small & cozy & a good place to have a drink in peace if you're with a lady or a friend. The HDML is probably my favorite hotel in Mtl.
