@evillethings - Not sure I could actually do that. Have somewhat of a guilty conscience.
Besides, even if I would, where would I go? How would I get there with no money?
It's a bit of a catch 22 I think.

Please guys, on topic.

Nobody except a fool...

Geeez bro, thanks for showing us how, or not.

I had no idea a simple question would turn into this kind of mess....

Sorry about the lack of sympathy in some cases. It is better to save such issues for those trained in these areas and not give out personal info on blogging boards.

I don't know much about this area. All I can say is you should seek out professionals, private and in the government, on debt restructuring, and possibly partial debt forgiveness opportunities. If you don't find more helpful answers in the beginning seek out other experts. I've found that even among trained professionals not all are equal. The next may lead you to a better answer.

Good luck,

Merlot

I don't think its a good idea moving to a foreign country with no health coverage and a medical condition... bankruptcy seems more viable.

I was going to suggest doing paid medical trials, but that may not be workable either if you're not in good health.

Not sure if you're a US or Canadian citizen (not familiar with Canadian bankruptcy) smellowman but you should strongly consider the bankruptcy option if you say that 20K is only the tip of your iceberg as far as your debt. Otherwise, it's going to take you a hellava lot longer than the 10 years the bankruptcy is on your record to replay all you owe!

... what would you do?

Short of taking your own life or declaring bankruptcy, what options are there?
Obviously begging for that money from people or doing something illegal isn't really an option.
Consolidation loan didn't help much.
Borrowing more on credit cards or lines of credit is stupid.
Don't have a car or home or anything of substantial value to put down or sell towards the debt.

Anyone have some sound advice (or funds to spare, lol)?
You can reply here (without being rude or crass as I know we can be sometimes) or PM if you prefer.

Thanks.

If this is the case then I would strongly suggest bankruptcy, to give you a example, a friend of mine was in debt for over 80K with no hope of ever paying it down, he did not have any assets so he declared bankruptcy, he had to pay his trustee something like $300 a month for 9 months, after that was done his 80K debt was gone, the down side is that he has a bad credit rating for 7 years, he also knew that he was going to declare bankruptcy so he went into as much debt as possible(apparently a lot of people who are about to declare bankruptcy do this), so if you are seriously considering bankruptcy and you have no assets than I would suggest that you go into more debt, I hope this helps.

Look behind you.
Bankruptcy happened to a friend of mine about 3 years ago. He had an OK income and whatever he made over $2,000.00 per month 1/2 had to go to the trustee so if he made $3,000 he had to give the trustee 500, if he made 4,000 he had to pay 1,000 etc. Now here is the real kick in the ass, since he was making OK money according to the system the term of payment increased from 9 months to 20 months. A single person is allowed to keep around $2,000.00 for living expenses and additional increases if you have dependants. Good luck. As for your credit rating my friend purchased a house recently ( just over 2 years but he had to put down 25% ), since he has a house he now has credit cards with a low limit. All is not lost.

Look behind you.
I heard a while ago, maybe a couple of months ago, of some federal program that helps persons who have a lot of debt. I don't know the name of the program, since I quickly heard it on the radio. The program is apparently designed to help people who are in serious debts.Good Luck!

Stay away from that one, I forget the name but Allen Thicke was the spokesperson and it was on the internet about it being a scam where it only helps about 5% of the people and they want money up front. "' Cambridge life " , just came to me...

Seriously, if I drove, I would consider being an escort driver.

Then you shoud rent a small car and be an escort driver. They paid cash.
Of course, you have to declare them after.
First, cut on your expensive. (girl, clothes, alcohol, etc. cut on eveything)
Only shop at Dollarama.
Don't know about your rent? Try to find something around 350$/month, with roommate.
After 2 years, you're back in this hobby. lol

@Joe.T. - Thanks for giving me that info. Makes good sense.
@Hungry 101 - I won't justify that
@Sol - also good advice though I was thinking about those companies that consolidate and give you considerably better options than the bank. I wanted to get a quote from them and take a few days to do the math to see if I would end up paying out more money in the long run and such.
@Man911 - Well no license, so renting a car can't happen. My unecessary expenses are all but cut with the exception to an internet connection. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs and have gone to a massage parlour once in the last year, so no worries there either. I often shop at the $$ store, try to only buy food that's on sale and haven't even bought new clothes or shoes (both of which I could use) in at least a year.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I had hoped more so to find out how to make $20k in as short a period as possible but definitely happy by the (positive) feedback from you guys.

MOD, you may now close this thread and I advise anyone else who wishes to give me their feedback, you can PM me instead. :)

People these days live way beyond their means so that they can impress other people and give themselves an image of success. Why do people feel the need to have this artificial image of themselves portrayed towards other people. What's so wrong with being poor, it doesn't make me a bad person does it?

Either bankrupcy or take any money that you have available and concentrate it on paying the most expensive interested rate first, then all the money you used to put on the first one you can put it on the second and so on... keep focus and dont call sps until your done : )

We live in an image obsessed society where image and physical appearance is everything. Have you ever noticed how people will just judge you based on your physical appearance and the type of clothes you are wearing as an indication of your personality type? Also we live in a capitalistic society where the system in place brainwashes people to consume... businesses using media to create a need where there is no need. People want to be around people that have money... money and being rich is attractive. So many people pretend to be rich in order to make friends and draw people towards them. Nothing wrong with being poor but people do not really want to be around poor people. Also many people are selfish with ulterior motives and being around rich people means that they can get things out of them.

i say bankruptcy will do since credit cards are unsecured debt the interest will kill you down the long line if you dont have medical insurance if living in the u.s your bills are already at the collection agency doing damage to your credit report

Why are we on this site? We all want sex! This is a very expensive hobby. Best solution to paying off large debts and remaining in this hobby is to become a male escort. Instead of paying for sex you now get paid for sex. The only downside is that you will be having sex with older women rather than younger ones. But, when your horny does that really matter?
