If you were the mayor of Montreal, what changes would you bring to the city?

Do you ride your bicycle when it is -20°C? Do you haul your groceries on your bike? Take out your wife and kids on public transit or on a bike?? Do you live in an apartment or a duplex and your only place to park is on the street? How can emergency vehicles get by when roads are made so narrow on purpose? How can delivery drivers make delivery to businesses in downtown? At my work Uber drivers always have a lot of difficulty delivering food because there is no place to park. I often see cars driving on those bike paths. What about people with mobility issues??
I do none of these things. I don't even own a bike, or use BIXIs. It's been over a decade since I've been on a bike. That being said, it's easy to see how much use they are seeing. There's a bike path near my place, always lots of people on it. There's a BIXI station next to my job, it is used 12 months a year. You don't need to use bike paths to understand they're useful. It's pretty weird of you to ask a single person if they're riding their bike at -20 as part of your argument lmao.
If you want a suburban life style : go live in the suburbs.

There is more traffic because there has never been more cars. Simple as that. Making it harder or less convenient to use other means of transportation will not solve your problem.

There are way more cars then bikes. I think you missed my point. My criticism is with the way they are doing it. I posted pics of what I am talking about. Did you see the pics? Do you really think that is the best way to go about it? Plante was a far-left wacko and what she did was clearly politically driven. Why can we not plan things so that it is best for all instead of trying to push cars away? Well yea -20 is a good argument since we live in Canada. Duh! LMAO
Nothing wrong. The problem is with the way they are going about it. Do you even consider the practical aspects of it or is your ideology more important? Did you ever think of how emergency vehicles can get by. Imagine someone is having a medical emergency and the ambulance is taking much longer then usual because an idiot like Plante decided to make the sidewalks triple width, had wide bike lanes and turn the street into a one lane one direction street. Do you even care about people with mobility issues? And one direction streets create more pollution because cars got to travel further to get from one point to another. Here you are driving but now you got to drive further to find a street going in the direction you are going. Here is another one, I only ever seen this in Montreal. A one direction street going one direction, when you reach the intersection the street goes in the opposite direction. I see no reason to do it but to frustrate drivers in the hopes ppl will get fed up and ditch their cars for a bike. Of course politicians will continue riding their luxury cars. I wonder if Plante rides a bicycle?
She also lost it because of that. Many people were fed up with it and the new mayor was elected based on having less bicycle lanes. Deal with it.

The bike paths are on review and she cancelled some of the projects. I am also aware of your political views. You ideology is more important to you then practicality that is clear. You are right she is not dumb and she will do right by the city and scrap those dumb projects. Plante's plans were 100% politically motivated. Like it or not it does not change the reality that you read enough about my posts on politics.

There is a place for bike paths, sure, but they put in too many bike paths, way too many.

I would not be surprised at all if there was a serious investigation of the Valerie Plante administration, and I mean a forensic type of investigation, they would fine a crap ton of kick backs involved.
Exactly. What stupidity I mean what fool would do what they did to St-Denis? That is a major thoroughfare. It should be kept as wide as possible to facilitate traffic. There are also many businesses there, for them to receive their deliveries complicates many things. People who want to shop at the stores will now go elsewhere due to traffic and lack of parking.
I am off by a year but I remember you made a comment about a post I made and right there and then I understood your political affiliation. But you are right otherwise you do not post much about politics, mostly about the hobby.
There are other ways to go about it but not to use a main street for that purpose. It is heavily use so lets make more traffic congestion by making it more narrower. Real smart! Lol
