My iPhone 10 is 4 years old, and though it still works, the screen is cracked in a couple of places and the touch screen functions are just not at 100% any more. The phone doesn't owe me anything.

What is the difference between the iPhone 14 Pro. Plus and Max? Anyone get one yet, or do I have to TOFTT?

I have the same phone with similar issues and want to switch soon. I am waiting for Costco to sell it without a contract. They only have the 13 for now.

Main differences between the 14/14 Plus and the Pro/Max is:
Better camera on the Pro and the Max compared to the 14/14 Plus (48 MP vs 12)
Faster processor for Pro/Max

Main difference between 14 and 14 Plus:
Screen size (14 plus is bigger) and longer lasting battery on the 14 Plus

Main difference between 14 Pro and Max: same as 14/14 Plus

14 and 14 Pro have a 6.1” screen while the 14 plus and max have a 6.7” screen

I also have the X (10) that I bought 4 years ago when the XS came out, so my phone was 1 gen behind which I don't mind too much but there is a price difference. Also, I bought it during black Friday (which is coming up soon). I am waiting for it this year to get myself a 13 (1 gen behind again). I find new versions of phones coming out every year is a marketing scam so people spend for the latest and greatest. But if you look at the specs, there isn't much from 1 year to the next. 4 year gap is a different story and the sweet spot to renew.

Eurasian,

LOL I also bought my iPhone 10 on Black Friday 2018. I purchased it at an AT&T store in Connecticut. While watching NFL football games over the weekend, I took note of AT&T's commercials aggressively advertising the new iPhone 14. These commercials feature "Lilly", their super rep, and LeBron James. I am still an AT&T customer and back in June I went to one of their stores. The rep there was a nice young kid, who was honest with me and told me if I waited until September I would get a great deal on the 14 and they would give me a lot on the trade in of the 10. He essentially talked me out of a sale of the 13, and a commission for himself at that time. So I am going back to that store and will look for that kid, who I hope is still there.

I bought mine during BF of 2018, while vacationing in France, I called Virgin Canada and they hooked me up and sent the phone to Montreal, got my new toy when I got home :)

Wait for BF, you know the specs already... compare the prices then and go see that kid.

I don't think I can wait because the touch screen functions are failing and the savings on Black Friday might not be appreciably greater than now. The 10 is losing its value with each passing week.

Don’t forget the island feature replacing the notch on the top of the line 14. Sucks that your phone is acting the way it is. Personally I am carrying the 11 and working fine except the battery is at 88% max capacity but battery life is still pretty good.

I think the 10 lost the most value whenever a new version came out (11, 12, 13), now the 14 is out already (loses chunk value there), I don't think it'll lose much more between now and BF. I remember going from 4s to 7, Apple was giving me peanuts for my 4s... I kept it and gave it to a kid for games and music.

I still believe in BF deals... unfortunately we won't be able to compare since you're in the American market and mine is Canadian. I changed my battery 2 months ago (it was faulty and out of warranty, cost me 70$) so I can drag it until BF. If you can't use yours anymore because of your screen... then hell with BF lol

I think you can see the "island" in this new iPhone 14 commercial from AT&T, which ends with "Lilly" asking LeBron James if he is "coming for her job" (very end of commercial):

How many times did you dropped your phone? And do you have a good protective case on it?

I always slap a Spigen Tough Armor case on my phones because I take it to the gym for my workouts.

Numerati,

I have a good case on my phone. But I am rough on my phones and rough on my cars. My phones never last more than 3 years usually and this one, at almost 4 years, is probably my most senior phone I have owned. They are dropped often and get banged up. But also used a lot for work and pleasure. Same thing with my cars, I am very rough on them and have to lease every 3 years just because I beat them up and wear them down. I am just a tough owner. Many merchants have commented on how rough I am on my phones and cars.

I am also rough on my grills as noted in the other thread. Between the salt air from the ocean and my constant use of the grill it gets worn down fast.

Top of the mountain
got my 14 pro max Friday and it’s amazing . My previous was the 11 pro max and I can see a big difference in screen and response quality! It’s a good step between the 11 and 14 ! Worth it! Also get yourself a good watertight case , they are the best like the fre but not the otter ! A good waterproof case protects your phone all around both faces and keeps dust and dirty fingers away ! You should see the face of the apple genius who evaluated mine 11 and gave me 410$ for it

Do you guys think 256 GB is sufficient? Marc7 how much did you get?
my 10 has 64G and I am running out of space (around 60G now) after 4 years... I think I have no choice to go with 128G next, it's the new minimum. I use clouds storage a lot, so I don't need 1T. Storage will depend solely on how YOU use your phone, so you can't compare with me or Marc.

In case you don't know, photos and videos are what takes most space, videos more than photos. If you're an app freak, it may eat up space too.

• How much of your existing phone are you using now? Are you always running out of space ? (take a look in settings/General/iPhoneStorage)
• Do you take or intend to take a lot of high quality photos and videos ?
• Is the island a selling point for you?

You can compare the phone features on apple if you haven't already (https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare)

You will notice that the iPhone 13Pro is gonna be slightly better than the 14 (basic) for the camera alone. Everything else, is pretty much the same phone (processor, display, etc).
If its about getting the latest hardware possible, then the 14pro / Max is where its at... else its basically an iPhone 13 Pro.

imho, upgrading from 10 to 13 or 10 to 14 should give you the same "wow" effect. So at this point its just a question of how much you want to pay.

I have a 11 and considering getting a 13 Pro Max myself.

I went to AT&T and was all set to buy the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The sale rep noticed the small crack in the screen on my phone and told me they would give me $350 on the trade of the 10 with the cracked phone, but if I made an insurance claim (my phone is insured) and got a new screen, the trade in value would be $800. So he sent me to Asurion. I went to Asurion, made the insurance claim, and they are changing the screen on the 10. I hope to pick up the repaired phone at 6 pm, drive back to AT&T, trade in the repaired phone, and then complete the deal for 14 Pro Max.
