That the majority of the people of Montreal don't support the Expos. They might not win as much as some people like but you can see MLB stars like Bonds, Sosa and Griffey for a more than affordable price. I feel sorry for the 8000 or so die-hard Expo fans that will no longer be able to jump on the Metro and attend the games. They are as enthusiastic as any fans anywhere. Looks like they are moving to the DC area. I wonder what the SP's are like down there, how much they charge and if there is a D**** review board. I'll do a search. Well anyways I'll be around for the D-Backs series look for me in sec. 118 the first ones me.

Be well

Save your money and stay in Montreal. I personally have never taken any of the SPs in the DC area. But looking at the prices. Its ridiculous compared with Montreals rates.

I think there is some sort of deadline (end of July ??), after which the Expos must stay in Montreal for another year / next year if MLB has not found a suitable buyer for the team ??

Has MLB found a buyer in the DC area? what about the Orioles owner, would he have to agree if the team was located near Baltimore ?

Virginia wants a BB team. The state has been looking for a while. If the Expos do come to Virginia. The new stadium will be 2 hours away from Camden yards where the Orioles play.

The owner of Baltimore has been saying for years that he would seek a compensation if a new team would arrive in Washington.

We are talking a lot of $$$$....

This situation should have benn taken care of 4 years ago when Loria tried to rape Montreal. MLB need to make a decision and a quick one.

Too bad the player association won't accept contraction. It would have been the easiest and painless solution.

From what I've read and understood, Claude Brochu made a phenomenal court appearance and made the ex-expos owners look like a bunch of idiots. Apparently, because of that witness (Brochu) MLB are almost sure to win the case.

Probably one last pathetic season (I should know, I go to the Big O all the time) after this one and it's off to wherever...

Too bad, I miss the 1994 edition, we were in 1st place before the strike.

Well shame on me but I jsut can't get the excitement of the game when all the strategy of the game relies between the thrower and batter (playing both offense and defense) when it's a team sport. That said, nobody wants to be associated with a losing team, and that includes Montrealers.

SL:

I saw otherwise on TSN last week. they said they had preliminary hearing last week and that Brochu was the "star witness" of MLB.

Also there should be external marketing allowed in MLB. Since the Expos have such a small fan base @ home, they should have been allowed to market "Montreal Baseball" packages to visiting teams' fans. My first visit to Montreal last summer is because I followed my team, the Giants for a 4 game stand (we got swept by the Expos!). I stayed in a hotel, bought souvenirs, ate and drank like a pig, left good tips and had a nice visit in my hotel room from a lovely girl. I've been back once last spring for a week(no sp visit) and am coming back yet again, this & next summer. All because of the Expos. I think the tools to make an economic impact by the Expos on Montreal have been underutilized.
