I am going to dinner with work colleagues next week. If I wear my kilt in Montreal will I be the subject of harassment? I am not worried about my colleagues - all are women and they are professional. I am concerned about the pub that we are going to - Burgundy Lion.

Plan to meet an escort later. Any thoughts on how she may react?

Around the corner
Montréal is a very open city I doubt people will even give you a second look. Not as if most people haven’t seen a Scotsman in a kilt or one pretending to be one.
How an SP will react ? she will probably think it is cute and appreciate something different and new.

Halloween time is coming, I guess you will be barely noticed...

Oh Shit.. I would dream to get out of shower with only a kilt. Should be a good fit especially with an athletic body shape type...
I'm arise just to think about having a delicate hand finding its way under tartan clothes. Carfan, You rocks!

Wearing a kilt in Montreal should generally not subject you to harassment. Montreal is a diverse and multicultural city, known for its acceptance and respect for different cultures and styles of dress. While it is possible that you may encounter some curious or surprised reactions, it is unlikely that you will face any significant negative attention or harassment.

As for the pub you mentioned, Burgundy Lion is a popular British-style pub in Montreal. It has a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere, known for its friendly staff and patrons. It is unlikely that you would face any issues there for wearing a kilt.

It’s not like how you wear it, it’s about how you feel about it. My friend is fat and big and he was so proud getting married, he was explaining me about the great kilt and his next endevours with it. Priceless.

I played golf for 2 weeks in Scotland and England this spring...wore a kilt most of the time. Ridiculous how free I felt. If I could find tartan dress socks to match Id try to start the trend here in the States

Lol.. I think the kilt would be a hot item ;) .
But then again I've enjoyed objectifying men in the past ... lol what am i saying... I do it now too :p.

I think rather than be worried what people might think... Know that there are a few ideas people who look might likely have. 1 being admiration to be confident enough to do your own thing. 2 those who judge are often judging out of jelousy because they don't have that confidence themselves. 3 curiosity, you've just become one of the most facinating people there. 4 you have culture in a city where many are afraid to exhibit their culture, or feel the need to assimilate...

Wearing a kilt is no different than seeing people of any culture wear their homeland attire.
In a city that is LGBTQ+ embracing, a kilt is still known to be a manly piece of clothing, not a feminized one. Most of us are raised to accept it.. even our own blackwatch wear them.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Montreal is pretty open minded and usually a safe big city.

Will you get looks? Yes most likely. Will you be harassed? I don’t think so.

If he get weird looks, I say show them his ballsack... That will give them something to stare. Just kidding, we don't condone public indecency haha

This reminds me my great grand mother was a McDuff. Maybe I could legitimately wear a kilt without getting into cultural appropriation.
Anyway, some looks awesome.

I have been to ceremonies, parties and graduations where Kilts and bagpipes were part of the festivities. Seemed perfectly normal. I am not too keen on the bagpipe aspect, at times it sounds like a duck call.
I do see the convenience in wearing a kilt and going commando underneath, no wasting time trying to unbuckle your pants when the time arises, so to speak.

Wow. That sporran is well-placed and a great match for the kilt!
I wouldn’t walk a mile with this thing between my legs…

I am so with you on this one! I spent 2.5 years in Halifax and I couldn’t stand hearing it. It doesn’t like out of tune duck call. Makes my ears bleed.

Sean Connery was a proud Scot. Here he is wearing formal attire - Prince Charlie doublet is worn when a dinner jacket (tuxedo) would be worn. His sporran is a dress sporran. Ghillie brogues to set it all off. While I have all that for formal occasions that would be a bit over the top for going to the pub. I will wear a more casual doublet or maybe a Jacobite shirt, brown brogue boots and a day sporran (no cantle at the top, leather not fur).
