This thread has gotten sidetracked into a discussion on lip-synching based on zero. Anyone who watches this video and thinks Lady Gaga is lip-synching ought to have their head examined:

Madonna was never known as a live act. She was a part of the MTV era which also produced Milli Vanilli. With the advent of the internet you cannot fake your way into being a good live performer. You either are, or are not.

Lady Gaga, on the other hand, before she was ever a household name, had carved a reputation as an electric live performer in the clubs of the East Village in New York City. Frank Sinatra once said in a song that if you can make it in New York City, you can make it anywhere. In Lady Gaga's case that statement is an accurate description and summary of her career to date. Had she been a fraud she never would have made it out of the small time clubs she played in in New York City.

Iv'e seen many Lady Gaga performances and never once did I think she was not singing live. If you notice, she always uses a hand held microphone, not those useless head mikes that are lousy for live singing but great to fake it with. EB, don't forget that Madonna also came out of New York and in her early carreer was quite a performer. But as things went on, the 'show' became more important than the performance and then along came Britney and the lip sync culture exploded.

I find Lady Gaga to be a breath of fresh air that will hopefully lead to more young singers following her lead.

Then what's the point in even having the 'performer' be there in person? You could just as easily put a lookalike up on the stage to lip sync with the music and most likely get a better show because the replacement might actually know how to dance!

If all that matters is being entertained, you could replace Madonna or Cher with female impersonators and get the same value for your dollar if not more because the drag queens would probably sing live!

If someone is advertising a LIVE performance, they should deliver it. Lady Gaga delivers in spades.

But I understand where you're coming from, after all it's hard to put on a better show than Britney.

By the way, i was at the Clapton concert last year & agree that it was fantastic. Great guitar, great blues! I'd go back to see his show again anytime!

Moi pour vous avouer bien franchement je ne suis pas très fan de cette Lady Gaga...Je trouve son style exagéré, trop exubérant, trop excentrique. En plus, elle imite la chèvre dand Bad romance tsé... Pis son vidéo de 9 minutes de Beyoncé ou l'ont voit des gens régurgiter leur repas...je ne sais pas mais je ne trouve pas ça sexy du tout moi!

I had heard about Lady Gaga for a while before i ever seen her, when i did finally see her in a video i almost started laughing as i thought it was so ridiculous it was almost funny. She is a nut case thru and thru but sadly in this day and age nuttiness sells. To her credit she like Madonna has found a way to market herself and is raking in millions, of the two i believe Madonna was the more talented.

She has her fans so be it, but for that matter Tiny Tim had his fans gimmicks sell, if she did not put on a total freak show on stage and in her videos she would not be 1/10th as big as she is, this is just my opinion.
