Big difference. You will fuck the SP. The lawyer will fuck you. So in that regards I would go with the SP ;)

It’s a violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct for an attorney to have sex with a client unless the sexual relationship preexisted the attorney-client relationship. This is hornbook black letter ethics that everyone has to know for bar exams/fulfilling jurisdictional ethics requirements.

If the attorney client relationship has ended (case over and withdrawn and attorney is paid), the attorney may have sex with the FORMER client. The rule applies to active attorney-client relationships.

Well in the OP's case it should be fine then, as he stated his divorce was paid for already and he did mention she was his former lawyer.

It depends on when the sex started. If his dick was in her mouth before the end of the case, it’s not fine. The rule would still be violated and it’s a grievance offense.

I wouldn’t call law school a “soul crushing experience”. Law school was the greatest time of my life, intellectually speaking. I came to idolize men like Benjamin Cardozo and Oliver Wendell Holmes. I still do. These are among the wisest men of modern times. They deserve to have streets and schools named after them.

Law school is sort of like a mental boot camp. It’s like a mental version of Navy Seal Training.

Well it depends on what you need. If your wife is divorcing you, you need an attorney for sure, and there is a high likelihood you will need an SP as well. If you can get both services to be professionally delivered by the same person, I would call it consolidation with a multi-specialist.

It should also be noted that when people proudly announce that their divorce is "final", and "over", it really isn't, because most divorce attorneys make a small fortune on post-judgment work. For example, if there are alimony and child support awards as a part of any judgment, and Rajah74 gets a new job making $50,000 more a year, his ex-wife will run into Court and move for a modification of the alimony and support awards. Similarly, if Rajah74's ex wife loses her job or gets demoted, she will also seek an increase in the awards by way of modification of the judgment so that a consistent level of support is maintained. The goal of divorce law is to prevent the supported spouse from becoming a ward of the state, and all of the taxpayers supporting her instead of Rajah, who vowed to do so through the marital contract.

So to say that it is "over" or "final" is euphemistic bullshit in many or most cases. Once the financial circumstances change his ex will be running to Court, he will need to re-retainer his attorney even if his dick is in her mouth, and he will also be well advised to invest in a big jar of vaseline so he can lube his butt cheeks to prepare his ass for the hard ramming it will be taking.

Luckily the ABA Law that EB refers to above is not mandatory, but only advisory to the various U.S. legal jurisdictions. Many U.S. States, including Texas, have rejected the ABA proposed flat out ban on sexual relationships with clients. http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/texas_lawyers_reject_ban_on_sex_with_clients
Lucky for me as I used to practice immigration law in Dallas. Pussy grabbing is still allowed in Texas - especially if a client is throwing a free shot sans underwear.

If you guys are interested in ethical issues of attorneys I recommend watching Better Call Saul. Season 2 focuses on ethical issues involved in tampering with evidence and forgery by an attorney. Season 3 was just released by Netflix BTW. It’s a very good show and there are attorneys like Saul out there who sort of skate on the periphery of the RPC.

Bignasty,

RPC 1.8(j) has been adopted in Connecticut, and as far as I am aware, most US jurisdictions. I know some attorneys who got grievances filed against them for violating the rule.

JHG,

It’s been adopted in Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania (to name just 3 states) and should you ever get admitted pro hac vice in these jurisdictions or the other US jurisdictions that have adopted it, you would be well advised to honor it even if Quebec lets you have sex with your clients. This Pennsylvania Attorney found out the hard way:

Damn! Thanks for posting this. I suspected that's how things work but it's good to get confirmation from an attorney. I guess that old Johnnie Taylor song was right this whole time. It really is "Cheaper to Keep Her."

I think It is better to pick a pro to heal you after your divorce. You need to live positive experiences. SP are healers.

My lawyer was charging 50 only to read one email. She was adding a 50 to print it (mandatory for the file). Do SP are charging to read and answers emails ?

You met the wrong ones Rajah74. I don't and as a student girl I can add my teachers are not charging to answer my email questions. You need better experiences with women

Q: What is the difference between a lawyer and a SP?

A: A SP will stop trying to screw you once you''re dead.
