Actually that is not true. I have an older client in poor health who owes me around $10,000. He pays me $100 a month, every month since his case ended two years ago. He is smart because if I sued him the Court would enter a judgment and order monthly payments of $100. He knows it and I know it. So suing him would be pointless.
Eventually a monthly payment will not come and when it doesn’t I will check the obituaries and he will be dead. I already told our bookkeeper the payments will continue til he dies and hopefully that will be a long time but judging from his poor health (mainly due to lifelong alcoholism), probably in the next few years. I will not go after his Estate. His Estate is going to his daughter. She is a rather nice lady and will need the money.
