What kind of car can't handle snow lol, did you build your car out of plywood?

Specifically, it is not just any type of plywood, but particularly exotic plywood.

I hope its treated plywood, otherwise it will not make it through one Quebec winter, floorboards would rot out.

Yeah but if you have enough money for an exotic car, you also have the money to get a second car that is FWD or AWD. Heck, at that point you might have enough money to fly a private jet. Any other RWD can be driven in snow. I have many friends with RWD cars, and literally all cars used to be RWD. Anyway not trying to argue, it's just that the comment blew my mind. Reminds me of a girl in the US that asked me at some point if you need chains on your tires to drive in Montreal.

But as you say, at that point, flying in a private jet has never crossed my mind LOL. Anyway, I got your point and you are right RWD cars could be driven in snow, just think in the 60’s when FWD were inexitant in North America. Having that said, let’s go back to the main subject of this tread.

My girlfriend drives a 323 and you are 100% right, it absolutely sucks in the snow. I have an X6 and even though the BMW commercials show it driving in the snow with ease it absolutely sucks in the snow as well and it's an all wheen drive.

How long do you usually stay since you drive 6 hours? I am considering driving up for a one-day 4-5 sessions, then driving back down the same day so I can save money not paying for hotel. But a 10-11 hour drive seems rough

It can be done. I’m becoming a fan of the one night trip to Montreal, especially in winter. Not sure if this is an option, but Amtrak to Albany and then a rental car at station really helps and you’ll feel more rested.

Albany is definitely the right move. I plan on doing that this winter, just not sure where to rent the car because the airport isn't that close to the train station. Also, under no circumstances would I ever take Amtrak all the way to Montreal. Did it once, never again. I think it's supposed to take 12 hours but that quickly turns into 20.

You’re right. Never take Amtrak from NY into Montreal. Might as well go to Tokyo. Same amount of time.

Take Amtrak from Penn Station to Albany -Rensselaer. Use Enterprise for one day rental at the station. Convenient. Make the 3 hour or so drive, and time the train back to NYC so you only have a one day car rental.

The advantage is you can work or sleep on train, and you avoid the north Jersey/NYC traffic. Albany to Montreal drive is a breeze.
