I am looking for the best internet deal out there. I am getting my service from PRIMUS 7 mps ( but it is actulaly closer to 2 mbs ) Telephone with 9 extra services, and unlimited long distance servicein North America. Is there a better deal out there in a package or stand alone internet service. I am even thingking of going internet only on a dry loop with no phone and use my cell telephone as my only telephone service.

-115.08$/month +TAX=129$

-Videotron phone (basically they hook your phone jack to a cable modem)
-100 minutes Canada/USA (if you want 1000 minutes add another 6$)
-Basic Canadian and USA TV (plus cbc newsworld)
-10 Mbps internet with 100 gig amonth cap.

Note #1 : I tested it WITH a lan network cable get about 9-9.1mbps

Note #2 on modem: You must watch not goign over 100 gigs.

Note #3: I like my wireless lan in upstaris office, so I made a hole in the wall to pass lan cable to basment electric/phone panel, so modem stays secure there. This maybe a problem because if you have to put the modem close to the electrical junction and your office is beside your room, then you will not enjoy full 10 Mbps.

note #4: They make you pay the first two months in advance so your first
bill is like 270$ and you have to agree to minimum one year.

Note #5: Videotron that I know of does not engage in throttling.

If this does not suit you try TekSavvy, I heard good things but they get throttled. BUt if you want 5mbps unlimited and you want unlimited LD
they are the way to go . I picked Videotron because of teh total package and speed compared to bell, but if you only need some services then go ahead
with TekSavvy.

TekSavvy DSL 5mbps 29.95 per month. Dry DSL $7.95. Static IP $4.00

For phone you can use unlimitel.ca. $2.50 per month for a phone number (DID). $.01 per minute usage. So for 10 hours a month, that's $6, anywhere in Canada. I use a Sipura (LinkSys) SPA3000 Voip Adapter.

If you want to get cute, install an asterisk server and do all kind of cool PBX stuff.
