Me and a few of my friends will be traveling to Montreal soon.

I haven't been able to get any info regarding the Lord Berri Hotel.

Does anyone know if it is SP friendly, do you have to meet people in the lobby to gain access to the elevator, etc.?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I stayed there once almost 5 years ago and I don't recommend this hotel. You ask about the lobby - there really isn't one per se (it is very small and cramped as is everything in this hotel). It's a small hotel catering to the younger/tourist class. I would rate it a 2 star. The only thing I liked about it was that there was a decent sized refridgerator in the rooms. Otherwise, I do not recommend. You can do much better and get a better downtown location. This hotel is on Berri and you don't want to be staying there in the winter months.

I don't recall access being restricted as far as the elevators but that was a long time ago and things may have changed.

The cleaning staff at the Lord Berri was the worst I have seen. Rooms don't get made until late in the day.

Go on Priceline and bid on the 3 stars. Every single one of the PL 3 stars is much better than this hotel, including the Novotel and the Holiday Inn Select. In fact, the PL 2.5 stars are also better.

I stayed there about 5 years ago..They damaged my car, originally told me that they would pay for it, then when I got back to the USA, changed their minds..

Do not trust them

Bid on Priceline and get the Hyatt !!

Smuler,

As I recall there is a cramped outdoor parking lot at Hotel Lord Berri, and I was very worried about parking my car there. Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I once got the Hyatt at US $60. Bonus was that as it was a Saturday, parking at Complexe Desjardins was just $8 for the day.

That is what I figured. The hotel was only about $65 a night, but I guess you get what you pay for.

I will try the priceline route.

thegreatwaloo,

You will get a 3 star hotel on PL for less than $65(US) and every one of them is far better than the Lord Berri with better location, the Hyatt being the best, Delta being second best, and then Holiday Inn Select and Novotel.

Try bidding in the $60 range and you should get something. I hear the Novotel may be had for even less than $50 but I would keep the bid closer to $60 unless you don't mind rebidding a few times.

I ended up getting the Holiday Inn on Viger.

For a 3 star hotel it really didnt seem like one. I have stayed at Hotel Europa a 2 star hotel and it was 10X nicer.

With that being said, I ended up paying $55 a night and that was a pretty good price. Free internet access and parking was like $15 a night.

Most importantly, the hotel was located right up the block from Cleo's and the Bejing Chinese restaurant both of which were awesome.

Booking Priceline or direct?

You will NEVER get that price ($55) booking direct at ANY 3 star. Come on, metoo4, you should know this.

Thegreatwaloo, the Hyatt and Delta, and arguably the Novotel if you get one of their upgraded rooms, are all better than the Holiday Inn Select. But it sounds like the location worked for you.

If only I knew...
I was distracted, sorry!! EB, you're right! I know because I book often in Mtl downtown and minimum ever, without Priceline, was $120 for anything that made sense. That was in dead of winter last year.

Priceline.

No complaints, the price was right and the location worked for me. And you are correct EagerBeaver, I would have never gotten that price any other way. They even upgraded me after I complained about the poor internet service and I was in a much bigger room with a couch/sitting area when you walk in, huge.

Have any of you guys ever had dinner at Beijing? That alone was worth it, the food was unbelievable!

How about doing a review on the "Restaurant" thread.

Addendum: I just realized that I once ate lunch at Beijing. It was okay, not exceptional.
