Showdown set for tomorrow between MLB and the MLB Player's Association on a proposed 50/50 revenue split between ownership and players on the proceeds of an 80 game season starting in early July:

I feel like they are going to figure this out and not leave us with no baseball. Pro rating salaries, which the Players Association has approved, seems like the only workable solution as the players and the families are assuming all the risks that go with playing, although of course they get nothing if they do not play and the owners face steep losses. The Mets have not even refunded monies collected from season ticket holders even though it has become clear that no fans will attend games- a sign of the kinds of staggering hits the MLB teams are taking.

I watched a classic Tigers replay yesterday evening. It was Justin Verlander's first playoff appearance and it was ALCS 2006 series Game #2 vs the Yankees. The Yankees were up 1-0 in the series and they were touted as having the best offense in baseball. JV pitched 6 innings and left with the lead. Joel Zumya pitched the 7th and 8th and Todd "Roller-coaster" Jones pitched the 9th as the Tigers evened up the series. I wouldn't have been surprised if Jones was the first closer to blow a save in a taped game he was so mediocre.

Bring back baseball!!!!!!

This is the memo players will be getting. In the new baseball, high-fives, fist bumps and hugs will be banned, as will spitting sunflower seeds or tobacco juice:

Will they be allowed to shower together??

This issue is addressed in the article I posted above:

"Players would be discouraged from showering at stadiums after games and would not be allowed to take taxis or use ride-sharing apps on the road."

They can shower when they get back to their home or hotel room.

For all the Yankees fans out there, here is the video of Giancarlo Stanton bench pressing his girlfriend Adriana Lima. How many of you guys can bench press 10 reps of wife/girlfriend/SA girl/favorite escort?

Stanton's problem is his leg (calf), not his upper body right now.
I was never an outstanding on the bench press but I'll bet I can lift a girl that weights about 120 Lbs as many times.

The Yankees and Mets are playing a home and home series, Saturday night in Queens and Sunday night in the Bronx, both games 7 pm, both games to be televised on YES and SNY. Although these are meaningless tuneup games that will not count in the standings, they are the final tuneups before the regular season starts next week, and they are also the first non intrasquad games each team has played against an outside opponent since baseball resumed. Because the regular season starts in days, expect each team to start their anticipated regular lineups. Both teams are very good. The Yankees are among the favorites to win the World Series; the Mets appear to have the best lineup in the National League and certainly look like a playoff team.

As always, staying healthy and also Covid-free will be a significant factor in the success or failure of each team. I like both NY teams to make the playoffs. I think the Yankees are a little deeper in pitching and have more high end offensive talent, and because of this are probably a greater threat to go farther in the playoffs in what looks like a possible crapshoot of a season.

Let's hope the league comes up with a plan to continue the season safely after this:

I'm a big fan of Dr. Fauci but the dude is way to overexposed and needs to stay in his lane.

Recently watched the Dodgers/Astros game with the wild pitches and the benches clearing . It was a good game that went to extra innings , so really nice to see MLB back
But MLB decided to go without a bubble and so far things are not progressing that well ,,, so I’m not that optimistic that they won’t be forced to postpone their 60 game season , but we shall see

As far as Dr.Fauci is concerned he’s the last person I want to hear comment about what MLB should do . I think that should be left to the commissioner . Next time he gets caught saying something to be false he should be put in 14 day quarantine

In his statements about why MLB has not used a bubble like the MLB, Rob Manfred has suggested it's because there are too many players in MLB and it's not workable. However, in light of the Marlins crisis, MLB has now implemented "MLB Compliance Officers", whose job is to enforce protocols. We will see how that goes. This is what they look like:
