The moral of the story is Canada is still dependent on what the USA said. They said to release Meng Wan Zhou, and Canada has to listen to them. If they said extradite her, then the 2 Micheals will still stay in prison in China. Got it?

Another thing about the Michael's release is that their charges magically disappeared. So they were just taken as hostages??? That ought to be a HUGE red flag to any Western company wanting to do business with China, since any of their nationals can be nabbed.

Pretty much yes. Their charges were bullshit, but didn't we all know that from the beginning? I do not think it's a news flash that China can trump up some charges (pun intended) to justify a hostage grab. The charges were a hoax that allowed China to hold the Michaels and keep international pressure to a minimum. Which they did, rather effectively. It's just really good politics on their side of this. I think Meng did violate some some US laws, and was properly held, but China needed to have some leverage to get her back, and the Michaels provided the needed leverage. They were in China at the wrong time. Once Meng was nabbed, they should have left.
