im soo pissed i had some unexpected client from china stay for the weekend and had t take them for dinner last night .... if he didnt have his wife with him im sure he woudl have loved me to take him to solid gold ... as he has showed me some of hong kongs funniest places well lets pls do this again i wanna go
Is there going to be a future event? I didn't know, as I work alternate months in the jungle (and won't dare to read merb while on site). Too bad for the timing - flew back from work yesterday with a month's salary to blow - it could have been a good night.
Sorry I could not make it! I would have but I moved into a new house this week end and there was a lot a packing and getting thing ready to move. (Next time I will not be so cheap and hire a moving company) well anyway I’m in if we have it again just need a little more notice. I hope everyone had fun
I would have loved to get together with you guys. Ronnie twice mentioned to me that I should come but unfortunately I' m in NYC this Memorial Day week-end. Musician's life!!!! Avery Fisher Hall was full tonight and the weather is just ideal! I love NYC!!!

That's the sound of me repeatedly kicking myself in the behind for missing the 1st (and hopefully not last) MERB reunion, especially since some of the ladies of MERB were in attendance too (forget drooling over Sophia ElfGoneBad, I would have had a stroke and I'm only 24). My only consolation was that my reason for missing the meeting was that I was promoted officially at the end of my night shift, so more mad money for me! Hopefully that will lead to a few more adventures in this wonderful community.

That's the sound of me repeatedly kicking myself in the behind for missing the 1st (and hopefully not last) MERB reunion, especially since some of the ladies of MERB were in attendance too (forget drooling over Sophia ElfGoneBad, I would have had a stroke and I'm only 24). Same here, I don't have a fixed schedule or location (I travel mostly in US cities). If I can get a 3-4 weeks advance notice, then I can plan my trip accordingly.
As for venue, I agree a bar or restaurant would be more appropriate (ok, depends on the purpose of the meeting). For me, I would love to talk to everyone, especially Celine of SD.

I knew some guys were staying away, I noticed some sustained looks to our table form people there, that definitely knew who we were ;-) There were more Merbites in Solid Gold than we can imagine... It's like the board here. Notice how many lurk without membership, probably some were simply curious and showed up, having a beer quietly in a corner, or just next to us

We really had a great time It is quite possible some Members were intimidated by the presence of ladies there.
Per SL's suggestion, making the reunion more private could make more people show up I imagine... And more interesting at some other levels If I knew my presence there prevented you to join the group, I would have abstained and visited another SC that night ;-) Some ladies voiced their interest in visiting, and didn't show up. The only problem with a baseball game is that we are kicked out of the place once the game is finished, so for some of us who wish to stay longer, for talks and negotiations – or business calls, hint – would have to plan elsewhere and it gets complicated. Plus, we would not have the chanc to do seat changes like we used to.

I did like the women presence. It was an opportunity to meet and have conversations to them in different settings and not time limited. Then again, that’s my opinion. Plus, having Sophia and watching her go to booths makes us leaves room for good imaginations…
As for gala and awards, I don’t think that Service providers are as open as porn actresses and one sure thing; nobody wants to go and pick up the award and thank all the support they have received. But surely, you can have awards for merbites: # of postings, most original postings, greatest experiences, etc.
I do get your point that it would be a fun gathering of guys to discuss hidden gems and have offline reviews, but would you say that the presence of Sophia was worth it?

I'd like to come to the next get-together as I'm curious to meet ya'll. However, I hope the next venue will be a relatively private and off-the-beaten-track kind of place where I don't run the risk of running into someone I know in real life, as I wish to remain a closet hobbyist. As such, I would have to pass if it were Hotel de la Montagne or the Big O. How about reserving a restaurant or a lounge for a private party somewhere?

Not that I am a big contributor to the board but I missed it also. Worst is I was actually in town. I was not definite on the day or site(my fault) and maybe a bit shy also.
I think the next most opportune time for the majority of Yanks to get involved at a meeting may be around the 4th of July ;the next major US holiday. Also the next time I am in town
