What are you insinuating? ROFL! Besides, I would not work for free, but would if some of the proceeds went to charity on my behalf.

Actually seeing what the mods have to go thru at times on MERB, i could not do it, it seems like a very thank-less job and God bless them that they do it and do it well.

Iggy, you got some brown stuff on your lips!

Maybe Fred and the Mods, in MERB weekly meetings, discuss whether the Leafs should play Bernier or Reimer in goal the next game.

I have it on good authority that in merb weekly meetings 87% of the time is spent having pillow fights in their Pjs. True story.

I would think that if you get suspended more than 2-3 times they just ban you for good..
I always wondered...

Who is the poster that has been suspended the most times on MERB ?

I have been here for 8 years..with no infractions

I suppose that the winner must be some agency ( or perhaps I am totally wrong ) ?

Can anyone recall ??

Maybe the mods will give us the answer

Voila !!

I do not know of any discussion board on the Internet where the moderators are compensated for their time and effort.

If someone thinks that being a moderator brings them any sense of power, they must have a seriously empty life or serious self esteem problems.

I agree. No sane or intelligent person would continue or even want to be a mod unless there were some fringe benefits/advantages that come with the job. I totally agree. After all, slavery on this continent was abolished in the mid-1800's.

Were i a moderator, i'd only accept the position for the power/control it would give me, but i'd mostly use the 'position' to pursue a personal agenda & disrupt my competition/ennemies if i had any. If i'd be a die-hard hobbyist, i'd surely love to be a moderator since i could figure out several ways for making it advantageous to me. Sure, i'd be in a conflict-of-interest. But so what? I'd be a moderator & i'd be the one to decide what's a conflict-of-interest or not.

I would also need to have a lot of spare time on my hands. The best scenario would be if i would be self-employed or have a part-time job. Therefore, that's why i would never be a good moderator or want to be one since i don't have the profile or criteria to use it to my advantage, nor do i believe in slavery or doing things for free unless i get compensated equally.

Weren't you Mod 13 as your handle last year ?
Shhh......

Wasn't Mod 13 the best mod of them all? Mod 13 was great!!!! He never suspended anybody & never pretended to be someone he wasn't! :D

p.s. Maybe my ban at the time was a whole set-up in order to get the hounds off my trail! I figure the best way to avoid suspicion as a mod is to figure out a way to get suspended in order to make it seem like a mod would never get banned. Another would be for another mod to admonish or warn a mod's other handle, and sometimes even pretend they're in a war of words. ;)

You are speaking of someone who was approached a number of years ago when we were looking for a mod 12. No one has been approached since that time and we currently have no intention of expanding the moderator roster.

That's news to me. I know of at least one person who was approached to be a moderator. But who's counting, right? ;)

Possibly. But wasn't a former moderator also recently approached to come back?

p.s. One more thing i'd do if i were a moderator: I'd make it a personal policy to only nominate female moderators. The more, the merrier. This way, i would want to create my own little 'mod harem' where one day i'd be the only male moderator left & be surrounded by several female moderators. Now, THAT would be a great benefit, right? Ah, the possibilities!

Uh, no. If anything, it is the opposite as all former inactive mods have been de-activated and will remain that way.

I think you need a new source of information.

Just a little note for everyone...other than the current moderators and Fred Zed, there is no one with any 'inside information' as to how MERB is run. Anyone who claims such knowledge is talking out their ass.

Now how about we abide by Smuler's post and get this thread back on topic, unless of course someone wants to add their name to the list of suspended members?

Possibly. But wasn't a former moderator also recently approached to come back?

Has Smuler's question ever been answered? Was General Gonad the most suspended member in terms of actual suspension time served in days/weeks/months? Is GG under a suspension at this time?

GG is no longer under any suspension of any kind.

If someone wants the answer to the topic question, all they have to do is to go through the suspended members thread and do a count. It is only 59 pages long with 883 posts.

I only saw General Gonad's name once ??

I didn't bother listing the agencies, since they were mostly all minor infractions

Where I belong.
I'm not surprised as I don't suffer fools gladly. And, alas, the less than brilliant, now departed mod 11 didn't suffer my snide comments gladly either.

I only saw General Gonad's name once ??
Not every ban is spelled out by the moderators. GG's last ban, from which he never returned, was, I believe, for two years. GG also returned under several other handles while banned; they were banned permanently.

Lovemaker, Dee, and Benson were banned permanently. Clavie possibly as well. Benson, absolved of his sins, has now returned under a different name.

Tony has been banned at least a dozen times this month alone.

Some girl named Amelie got 4 straight on one page, and was banned all in the same page in 2008 !
