In Montreal I have found the age range for men to start more in the mid 30s - early 40s, and going up.
In New York I have found clients as young as early-mid twenties much more common; the comment about disposable income is probably very pertinent here. A 24 year old who spends all of his time cloistered in his wall street office, after just as consuming days in school is quite common... lots of money, and no time to spend it. it's just a different market.

As for the questions about enjoying an older man more...
I think with time (most) people search for a little more substance, ambiance, context... a different quality to their rendez-vous. This is not always a direct and automatic correlation to people's age, but definitely their experience. And even those who are keeping it primal; an older man (again relative to experience) is more likely to know his body and the woman's body.

I guess it also depends on the SP's age.

I would say all of this is true. Guys in their 20s are unstable emotionally (in terms of sexual relationships), and unsecure financially, and although they are physically more desirable in terms of a random sexual encounter, they are not the best clients in the professional setting where it is pay 4 play. The experienced 40 plus hobbyist rarely gets too emotionally involved and views this as a business transaction. I really think maturity is huge in terms of being able to properly talk to and treat women in this venue, and not get too excited, emotionally involved or crazy. The long time hobbyists know how to do it and age means something only in terms of maturity and experience, and those things do come with age. In most of the cases of hobbyists becoming head cases it is younger guys developing infatuations with escorts because of their extreme emotional immaturity. I can think of several cases off the top of my head.

Women work as escorts for the money. The guys who have the most money and are the most mature are the best clients, period. These qualities are usually realized when guys hit their 40s. As protagoras said there are exceptions but when you get older you earn better income, become wiser and more mature and are able to utilize those developments to your best advantage.

I'd like to add something to my previous intervention and to the enlightening comment made by EB.

I don't know if could be another element (here I'm speaking from my own point-of-view, people may disagree) explaining why escorts (allegedly) tend to prefer men over 40. I guess that for men over 40 MSOG is not an objective per se. Is it possible that we (I include myself in this cohort because I'm in my early 50) tend to favour quality over quantity.

Take for instance an hour session as a basis. In general I'm only able to come once. Is it possible that it is less demanding, less work for an escort. When I was younger I was able to come twice, or even threice, in an hour. Imagine the amount of energy than an escort have to spend in a session with a client whose sole desire is MSOG.
