Metro Info.

I will be travelling to Montreal next week. I plan on staying in Hotel Du Fort and have to visit McGill University. Based on my research, I plan on buying one day pass for Metro, but I have a few questions that I could not get answer for. Here are the questions:

1. I will be taking the green line, but the STM web site shows that there won't be any trains between 10 AM - 2 PM. Is that true? The info. was somewhat confusing to me.

2. Where do I buy one day pass? Is it on the station before entry to guy-concordia station?

I will appreciate your responses to clarify these two doubts that I have. Any other related information will be appreciated as well.

There's no problem with trains at that time of the day. They'll run about every 6-8 minutes at that time of the day. All metro lines shut down around 1AM or so until about 5:30, but run continuously (barring any incidents) the rest of the time.

I've never bought a day pass, but I assume you can pick one up the same way you get the other passes...at any ticket booth in any station.

If you're staying at Hotel Du Fort and only visiting McGill University I don't think you need a one day pass for the Metro. You can just walk to McGill, it's like a 10 minute walk.

You can enjoy unlimited access to the bus and métro network for one day
for $9 or for three consecutive days for only $17. These STM passes allow
you to explore Montréal as you please.

How to use it ?

It is quite easy to use. Simply scratch the month and day (or three
consecutive days) you plan on using it and show it to the driver when
boarding the bus or to the métro fare collector. You can also load the
1-day or 3-day pass tourist on an OPUS card. Of course, you can use
it as often as you want during that period. We trust you will make the
most of it on your way to discovering Montréal!

1. Our tourist passes are sold at these locations:

At all times
at Berri-UQAM, Bonaventure and Peel metro stations

and at these other stations, from April 30 to October 31:

Green line
Radisson, Viau, Pie-IX, Saint-Laurent, Place-des-Arts, McGill, Guy-Concordia, Atwater, Lionel-Groulx.

Orange line
Jean-Talon, Mont-Royal, Sherbrooke, Champ-de-Mars, Place-d'Armes, Square-Victoria, Lucien-L'Allier, Lionel-Groulx, Snowdon.

Yellow line
Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke.

Blue line
Snowdon, Côte-des-Neiges, Jean-Talon.

2. The 1-day and 3-day tourist passes can also be loaded on OPUS cards at any time by a métro fare collector, at an automatic fare vending machine or at retail outlets carrying STM transit fares.

You can buy your day pass at any metro station. I really suspect that there will be an interruption of service. The metro and bus services in Montreal are very reliable. Though, you might find our metro wagons filthy, unfortunately.

If your sole purpose is to travel from Guy-Concordia to McGill, then I would also recommend a walk on Sherbrooke street. Not a long walk and this will allow you to appreciate some architectural gems.
