And it will keep on getting worse with Trudeau. The unemployment rate is over 6% and Trudeau's mass immigration policy is entering more people then there are jobs being created and houses and apartments being built. When you got rapid population increase and construction of new apartments down plus job growth not keeping up with population growth, that is a recipe for more poverty which means more crime, and more homelessness. This is happening across all the major cities in Canada.
I don't keep up with politics but the last I heard is that he slowed down with is massive immigration idea. The cost of life is also insane right now when a cheap apartment rental is 1300$ and more. At 65 if you do not own a house or condo most people can't live on a pension, its really sad when you look at it this way.

Now next election if Trudeau goes will the next prime minister be better ?

Cutting it by a mere 0.1% and saying you cut it does not qualify. It is smokes and mirrors. Trudeau's mass immigration policy is separating the have nots and the haves. This is the biggest gap between the rich and poor Canada has ever seen. Another ten years of Trudeau and we might end up in the same faith as third world countries. Meaning if you already own a home, you do better if you do not then you are in big trouble. I think at this point any new prime minister will be a big improvement from Trudeau. I personally in 40 years never seen any prime minister do what Trudeau did. It is total extremism and total madness. Even though the Liberals are at siege, there is no change in the Trudeau Liberals. They are doing things as he did since he first got elected. Trust me, it will get better but it will take at least a decade to reverse some of the damage Trudeau did.

Lol as we are posting this in the Montreal paper there is an article on how Valerie Plante is getting trashed on social media. She did nothing for Montreal except cause trouble, she is never there for real events, wanting to remove guns off police officers, the metro is safe, and removing parking spots in streets to do cycle roads. Its amazing to see how pathetic those politicians are and still well in place.

I am glad I left Montreal to go to the suburbs. Some people I know are struggling for parking spots due to her stupidity.

I blame the people who continue to vote for far-left lunatics like Plante and Trudeau. Only in Montreal will you see a street that can have two lanes in each direction with parking spots on both sides turned into a one direction one lane street with wide sidewalks and two sides dedicated to bike lanes. It is weird, with mass immigration we need to ease traffic congestion not make it worse. She pushes her ridiculous far-left ideology wanting to force people to use public transit. Trying doing your groceries in the bus. I hear new condo construction no longer got a minimum requirement to build parking spots in Montreal anymore. I live in downtown and I am considering moving out to the suburbs in a few years because the city is way too overcrowded (thanks to Trudeau). and Montreal is a mess. Homeless everywhere and it is very dirty. Plante keeps on jacking municipal taxes but services going down. I do not remember the city being this dirty 30 years ago.

Have you been to Ottawa or Toronto? It’s worse! Much worse! After spending time in Toronto & Ottawa this summer i barely noticed them when i was in Mtl the past couple of times.
I was in Toronto 3 weeks ago as well as Ottawa, and it is worse than Montreal.

I was at Dundas Square and about 100 hundred people were lying flat out on the street. As I walked by to grab the streetcar there were two young males in their teens injecting heroin while two of Toronto's finest men in blue stood with their bikes looking at them. It was absurd. This is a major intersection in Toronto.

Down around the Corktown area, it was beyond dire. The amount of homeless women is even more shocking. It is truly sad.

I was also in Ottawa, which was even worse than Toronto. The area that used to be Lowertown and the Byward Market is a stank shithole only a stone's throw from Parliament Hill. Both of these cities now give Vancouver a run for its money as the worst place for addicts.

Having said that Montreal is not far behind, and if the current policies followed by the Liberal government and Justin Trudeau are not addressed, we will be in the same boat shortly.

Vancouver is the worse! Junkies and homeless on every corner of streets begging for $
Vancouver is also sadly now a major destination for pedophiles and is known the world over for this.

This country has gone to hell in a handbasket because of the policy decisions made at all levels of government. We have become an international joke.

Yesterday in Kingston, Ontario. Two men were killed and a woman was severely injured and close to death herself. They were living in a homeless encampment directly across the street from a safe injection site. All three were savagely knifed and bludgeoned by a fellow addict and homeless person.

The Mayor of Kingston, Bryan Paterson has stated that they have had enough and that he was seeking to close down the safe injection site as well as the encampment and look at the alternatives to help these addicts compassionately.

Finally, a politician who has had enough of enabling policies that do nothing but promote misery for the addict and all those around these areas. It is time to look at treatment and abstinence for addicts, this is compassionate. Anything short of this is a failure and many people know this already.

Bravo, to the Mayor of Kingston.

Just to think all of these started since Trudeau got in power. He actively is making Canada poorer with mass immigration, and promoting safe injection sites. I know Toronto is worse but Vancouver takes the crown for the worst. Not surprising since Vancouver is the most unaffordable city in Canada all thanks to Mulroney and Trudeau. It will not get better till people stop electing these kinds of globalist politicians.

I thought I would post this link here. Yes, I am aware the source is CBC and many may consider it to be an unreliable source, however, this particular link is a reality.

I have also included a link from the same source dealing with a safe injection site in Toronto that I witnessed in the Kensington Market area a month ago. It was dangerous and nasty right on the street outside it. This is a high pedestrian traffic tourist area in Toronto.

It points out the difficult situation that we find ourselves in with the many in Canada and the misguided beliefs they hold on certain subjects. One wonders if logic is even taught at schools as it was when I was a youngster in Canada. I think not.

The Mayor of this Canadian city cannot even move forward to do his job properly and implement the changes he needs to make the city safer as well as promote sensible solutions to an ongoing crisis. Why? Because he is against the government policies that led us to this situation and the entrenched establishment.

I would note that this whole addiction, rehab and homeless crisis has brought forth an unsavoury cast of characters who benefit from the misery of the homeless and addicted in this country, namely lawyers, rehab and crisis workers, some medical professionals, and politicians and government employees. This is what the homeless and addicted are up against as well as ordinary Canadians who want an end to this nightmare for all and a return to safe cities and a good Canadian lifestyle.

Marijuana is an addictive drug and very much a gateway drug to other drugs. I smoked it daily for years and when I stopped it was one of the most difficult things to do. Why? Because it is a "psychological" addiction as opposed to a "physical" addiction, like heroin or cocaine.

Having said that, everywhere I go now I smell marijuana openly. It used to be that one would smell cigarette smoke everywhere, but now it is marijuana. Yesterday, queued up for the bus and some guys behind me were smoking it and blowing it in my general direction.

It was rare when it was illegal(when I smoked it) that you would find people smoking it so openly because they risked being charged with a criminal offence.

I've been visiting Montreal for over 20 years from the states and never felt uncomfortable until my recent trip over the summer. I stayed at the Best Western near Saint Laurent on Saint Catherine near the old Hyatt location. Much has changed and most of which I would say is post COVID. Before COVID the city was vibrant and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Now, there are a lot of homeless and rowdy individuals. Just trying to make the left turn on to Saint Laurent from Rene Le Vesque took a ton of time trying to navigate around all of the beggars. They would stand in front of your car and not let you pass. It was upsetting because I do feel for them, but I was more upset that they were preventing me from getting to where I'm trying to go. The scene around my hotel was just miserable. Went to a Italian joint in little Italy and it was no better. The vibe was all wrong. With the increasingly high prices to hobby in this town it's close to being worth it to stay in NYC and I can't believe I'm saying that. Escort services in Montreal have always been so much better than what I could find in NYC. But it's just too uncomfortable walking around a town that I never felt that way. Very upsetting. It's not the same as it used to be and I really hope they can turn this city around.

I work night shifts near Olympic stadium, I used to go get a coffee or junk food at the McDonald's on Sherbrooke, one night this summer was a Friday night and a busy night it was like 1am, I went to the drive true, there was this beggar standing in front of my car and preventing me to leave, at one point he smash my hood, there was a police car parked on the other side, I got out of my car and was a lot bigger than him so he ran away. Cops didn't do nothing guess for them it was normal behaviour.

But now I stay inside at my job and do go wondering around at night during my break hour.

One place I frequent often is Chinatown and the problems there are just insane. If coming into Chinatown from the east, you are immediately confronted with dozens of highly intoxicated people who come at you from all angles. They are everywhere and are increasingly more hyper and in your face.

Another area that shocked me even more was the Gay Village on Ste. Catherine Street east of Berri. This area is a total mess and dangerous. There are about 3 blocks of empty storefronts with filth all over the street and droves of homeless and addicted people.

If this area continues like this the remaining gay establishments that are holding the district up by its bootstraps will close and leave the area. That will be the final nail in the coffin for a once vibrant nightlife district in Montreal.

Finally, I walked up to the St. Hubert pedestrian plaza area near Jean-Talon recently and was shocked to find it is facing the same problems as these other two areas. It had a similar vibe to the Gay Village.

These are three areas of the city that are high profile areas that used to attract many people and tourists because of the commercial activity, and the safety and cleanliness of the area that are now in decline. Action must be taken immediately.

A guy at my job is gay and he lives in the gay village he has an apartment there, I ask him about is security lets just say he does not go out at night either. Not sure how all those beggars came to be honest were do they come from all of a sudden and in the MTL journal everyday you see them killing each other etc.

I had some extra vacation time so I decided to give my second favorite city another chance. It was even worse off than my last trip. More homeless people, but on the flip side there was less construction. I saw a man just pull his pants down, squat and take a shit right in the middle of the sidewalk for all to see. This was in the middle of the afternoon!

Indeed, it keeps spiralling, uncontrollably into the abyss. I barely recognize parts of the city any longer, so many homeless and destitute people.

I can't see how the construction was any better. I live here and am well aware of the mess the current mayor left the city in with road construction in the downtown core.
