I learned the news yesterday at Cleo's. The DJ kept playing MJ songs and it was depressing. First, I thought that I misheard the DJ when he broke the news or maybe I was just in denial.

I was a fan of MJ when he started his carrier and before he engaged in his endless metamorphosis process. He was the only singer I was fan of. I was rather worshiping scientists but I was a strange teenager. Fortunately, I am not a strange teenager anymore, just a strange adult.

Feeling sorry or sad for his death has nothing to do with worshiping the man. Speaking for myself, his death took with it many sweet memories as I loved his first songs and used to do my homework listening to that music. Also, it meant that people that we liked at one point of our life are starting to die. So my reaction to his death was more egoistic.

Another death that affected me was that of Laura Branigan. She died in 2004, thought I only learned about her death just a few months ago. I was not a fan of her, but her songs were intimately associated with some period of my life.

I guess people who were not teenagers in the eighties will have trouble to understand what we are talking about. Worshiping maybe a trick of kids, but hell we were kids in those years.

Very simple Techman

Today 'the big' news is... and yet one man's death is insignificant to the reality of our world.

Go ahead and care ! There will be millions of hypocrites anyway !
People who laughed at jokes made on him. People who thought he was a freak, people who suddenly went crazy buying his music when music stores used to sell one album per month...bla bla bla !!!

Hey Dick,

Please explain how you know this for a fact as you imply??? I understand how many could believe that. But I have some doubts he abused any children. Of course, when looking at all that we do know about his many eccentricities and his closeness to children he comes off as extraordinarily unusual in his lifestyle, many would say...perverse. Add to that being inundated by the medias obsession for every strange quirk, becoming conditioned by all the endless jokes and freakish caricatures about his tastes and general character, it's almost impossible not to accept that he was capable of some sort of gross perversion. And, unfortunately many people would believe Jackson was a pedophile if there had never been any accusations just because his strangeness is totally repulsive to them. But being repulsed is not equal to guilt, and if you read about the case against him, the changes in testimony by the victim, inability to adequately describe Jackson's physiology, and seemingly self-incriminating tapes of the accuser leave doubt.

What seems most likely to be the truth is the professional assessment. That Jackson was a regressed 10 year old, an adult who thought he was a child interacting with children believing he was one of them. Even the mother of the alleged victim insisted there was no wrongdoing. So hate everything about him as you will, but your revulsion is not evidence of guilt. As for me, I don't know.

Cheers,

Merlot

Moby Dick, please stop being a dick and, if you have any proof he abused a single kid, please show it to the world because nobody was ever able to prove anything. Look at the guy's way-of-life: he was a kid who forgot to grow-up, stuck between being a 10 years old and a poorly-adapted adult.

What if I start some rumors on you... After a while, peoples will start to believe me and, even if I have no proof, if I find a way for the media to start spreading my accusations, they'll eventually become true, right? No? Well, that's exactly what your insinuations are: unfounded accusations.

Uhm... didn't he try to make him self white-like? try to deny his blackness? Hardly a recipe for becoming a Gawd in the black community.

For all you people who are defending Jackson as far as being a potential child molester try this and let us know how it works out. Start inviting a whole bunch of young boys to your house, have them sleep in your bed at night, do not lay a hand on them eventually something will get reported. Now try and convince people nothing happened. Lets see where you end up. My guess is you will be doing a little hard time. You will not buy justice the way Jackson did. You will be wearing a nice little striped suit for a while. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, chances are it's a duck.

When you are in front of the judge chances are you won't be thinking of MJ but you may be thinking of Elvis because when the judge asks you if you have anything to say for yourself before he sentences you, your response may be DON'T BE CRUEL. then after he sentences you if he asks you again if you have anything to say it may well be I'M ALL SHOOK UP:D

THE case? There were two. Read the sworn affidavit of the 1993 victim here, as well as links to the grand jury / prosecution of the 2nd trial in 2004. Look for the list of things seized from Neverland, including a CROTCHLESS MJ-SIZED BUNNY SUIT

What you are saying (by the way Moby is not implying, he is stating) is that unless anyone on this board was in the room when MJ was wearing the bunny suit, we can't possibly leap to the uncertain conclusion that he was a paedo. Despite the evidence, repeated court cases, and so on. Nice. I guess we'll never convict paedos that don't film themselves, because, we should err on the side of the accused. OK.

For the record, I did find it upsetting that he died. A part of my youth was lost with him, and yes, Thriller was an amazing oeuvre. But his predilection for little boys is as much a part of his legacy.

Hey JJ,

So those who spend so much of their lives with children are guilty of pedophilia...teachers for instance? Lol...the comparison is unfair, but think about it.

Excellent! That's precisely the problem. What you are describing is an impulsive reaction to something extremely unusual and strikes most of us as disturbingly unseemly. But unless just sleeping in a bed with a child is pedophilia it takes a little more than that. Your "if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, chances are it's a duck" theory sound perfectly logical, reasonable, and correct. But it's still not proving anything. A mountain of evidence showing everything but the final act still does not mean the final act happened.

Let's take another pattern based on your theory. You are a 40 or 50 year old board hobbyist who has been calling for the youngest escorts for years. Someone accuses you of molesting an underage girl in "normal" life and has records of all of your hobbying habits since you started. "Now try and convince people nothing happened. Lets see where you end up. My guess is you will be doing a little hard time." Just because "it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, chances are it's a duck"...still doesn't mean it's a duck despite the logic of it. Or are you willing to say most guys hobbying here molest underage girls???

I know this sounds like it's off the beam, but the army once did a study many years ago of it's soldiers in battle showing only about 25% ever fired their guns during battle. So with all the training, arms, being in a battle, and all the dead and wounded enemy around many soldiers never killed or shot anyone...not every duck who all evidence makes seem the same does the same.

I never said he didn't do it. I just have some doubt.

Cheers,

merlot

Now this is one very nice way of writing.
We can feel it and we can honestly say that you are true in your word.

Thanks :) There is more like what the famous glove inspired me at the
time (and still have that) but that was the principal.

BTW, no one is wondering why no where in the 911 call, not even 1 time
the name of MJ poped out ? I find this very strange ..............

For myself, I beleive that we had the best of MJ alive !
BUT, stay tune ! I truly beleive now that he is gone,
micuh more is coming. The unreveal will be reveal !

In the meantime, if he could say one last thing ...

May his tortured soul finally rest in peace

Sums up my own feelings I think.

Not a particular fan, much about him was disturbing but obviously a great entertainer from a young age; it is normal now to give tribute to that which was best in his life: his contributions and achievements as a dancer, singer and songwriter. I think it should also give pause to all of us seeking happiness in this life about where to look for it and remind us that it cannot be bought.

I am no fan of celebrity-worship either but remember that people usually don't piss on the corpse at funerals, even poor people's funerals. It is very rare for an obituary to not gloss over the negatives and celebrate the positives. This is as it should be.

And Moby Dick, your posts are in extremely poor taste. There are those who would particularly want to focus on his flaws at this time (and there are certainly very disturbing facts out there) but I hope most of them at least articulate them with a little more class.

I think i will do what Merlot did and make a very bad comparison. So by this line of reasoning i guess when Clifford Olson dies we should just look at the good and forget all about the bad but wait a minute this probably isn't fair because Olson is not a famous celebrity so we wouldn't look at him thru rose coloured glasses:)

Clifford Olson unfortunately doesn't really have a whole lot of positive stuff to celebrate about him. I imagine his family and any friends he has (assuming anyone is left) will try though. That's what you do at a funeral.

You don't go in there with a horn and jump for joy and say : "The bastard is finally dead! Yeah, hip hip hurray! I'm so happy, you other people are so stupid for not realising how great it is he's dead. Happy, happy, happy what a loser he was, want a cigar? Drinks are on me! I haven't been this happy since I saw my first monster truck show."

Mr Moby dick basically did that. To call that lacking tact is an understatement. Okay, at least this was not in front of MJ's family but there's no reason to force others here who do admired MJ for his music to listen to this. Just keep it to yourself or express it, if you must, in a somewhat more measured way. I didn't read all the posts, I assume yours had a little more class.

It is sad that MJ died before his return on scene but consider if his return would have not been successfull. ;)

His concert tour likely would have been a disaster. The New York Post is reporting that Jackson weighed 125 pounds at the time of his death and was consuming like candy a cocktail of highly addictive narcotic drugs for many months:

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06272009/news/nationalnews/jacko_went_out_in_a_drug_daze_176362.htm

Usually Demerol is only injected intravenuously for painful medical procedures like colonoscopies before they stick the tube in your ass.

We have heard this before, Elvis Presley, Heath Ledger, Anna Nicole Smith, Andy Gibb, etc. There are many videos on the Internet of Presley performing in Las Vegas in a drug-induced haze; he was able to pull it off until his very last tour when he reportedly began slurring and/or forgetting the words to his own songs.

In Jackson's case he did have a severe back injury from falling off stage and he felt he needed to treat the pain. He enlisted a sympathetic African American doctor, Conrad Murray, who was himself $400,000 in debt, to travel with him on the tour and continue to medicate him. It's highly unlikely Jackson would have been anything like his 1983 persona on stage:

Whatever, he was a musical prodigy & a genius.

Let's not get carried away now. He was a great performer and entertainer, but hardly a musical prodigy or genius. He wasn't exactly known as much of a musician. If you want a true musician and musical genius I would look to someone like Prince instead.
