No never heard of it , growing up baseball was a foreign game to me . I grew up playing and watching European football and basketball
But long before PC games were available I reckon a board game like the one above would have been fun for anyone who loved baseball

The only game simulator I ever played if only briefly fir just a few times some 15, 20 years ago was a football management simulator called “Premier Manager”

It’s interesting that Costner was in 3 of the best baseball movies ever made

Right on EB
Costner is to baseball movies what John Wayne is to westerns

Any of you folks in your younger years or even now ever play the iconic Strat-O-Matic Baseball simulation game?...the board version with the card sets!

https://www.strat-o-matic.com/

I played the APBA board game. Very similar to the strat-0-matic game with individual card sets of all major league players.. Oddly enough, one of my childhood friends still plays the game on-line now. It's like fantasy baseball where you draft players, construct teams, and play against other teams across the internet. There are divisions and playoffs like a real baseball league.

For those of you interested in the Shoeless Joe story, there was a documentary on ESPN Sunday called Backstory:"Banned for Life" about Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe.

Interesting quote from series - “You’re only on the ineligible list if you’re living,” said Don Van Natta Jr., a senior writer for ESPN. “Joe has been dead for 70 years, which puts the ball in the Hall of Fame’s court. It’s a very interesting question and gives fresh hope.“It’s significant. It’s something that Major League Baseball is finally saying in a way they had not before. They claim they have felt this way for some time, but we didn’t know.”

The baseball simulation board game i used to play all the time was the one sold by Avalon Hill in the late 70's. I also had the football simulation game that company sold. I think it was called "Paydirt" or something like that. But the baseball game was the better of the two. What a great game it was!

Yeah I remember those as well Doc!...However, my all-time favorites were the advanced versions of Strat-O-Matic Baseball and Football...there was nothing like it!

The Astros were cheating you say? What is even more dubious the the sign stealing controversy is the trade they made with the incompetent GM of the Detroit Tigers, Al Avila who traded away a HOF pitcher for 3 scrubs. Taking advantage of a mentally incapable retard is also unethical!

What a hot mess MLB has on its hand over the Astros cheating scandal!...A real publicity nightmare for MLB made worse by out of all people Commissioner Manfred after he opened his mouth making ridiculous and dumb comments over the controversy!

Dodgers are still fuming as several players including Dodgers NL MVP Cody Bellinger proposed to resort to "bean balls" against Astros players as a means to settle being robbed blind of the 2017 World Series!

Tom Verducci of SI went back and rewatched Game 5 of 2017 World Series (in Houston) where Kershaw gave up 6 runs in less than 5 innings. He said he saw 31 sliders from Kershaw, but not one swing and miss by the Houston hitters. LA lost the game in extra innings. In Game 1 at LA, Kershaw was brilliant - 3 hits, i run in 7 innings. Yes the World Series was stolen by the Astros.

Dodgers don't play Houston this year, but if Kershaw makes the NL all-stars and some Houston hitters make the AL all-stars, might we see some "bean balls"? I don't think the AL team will be friendly to any of the Houston players and stand up for them.

MLB really needs to take that title away from Houston.
