Overtime. No one would have predict that! Crazy. What I don't know is if they play the full overtime, even if one team scores, I think they do.

No matter who win, first canadian team to go to the final :)

OK so they will play the full 30 min overtime, even if one team scores. After that, shootout! Wow

As much as it hurts, I got to agree Toronto deserve a lot. Coming back from a 3 - 0 deficit in a 2 game playfoff to win like this? Hats off to Toronto. Now please Toronto go to Seatle and bring the cup, I count on you guys as I love Toronto even if you crushed my heart tonight.

What a crazy game of soccer, shit!!

Cheers,

Agreed on Toronto deserving to win.

Altidore owned this game. I wish he showed this kind of passion during WC qualifying.

The game will be held in Toronto in two weeks. I'm not sure yet if it'll be played at BMO or Rogers. Likely BMO. Hope it won't be too cold!

It is next saturday, not in 2 weeks (9 nights from tonight) and will be held at BMO field in Toronto. Go TFC! and Go :canada:

Caught the end of the game last night and the atmosphere was fantastico! Now if only evey regular season game could be like that, more would watch.

I know the Impact have a huge following in Montreal but hypothetical question, would a NBA team in Montreal be more popular than the Impact over time? Or even from the beginning? Mind you, just in Mtl, not any other city.

Sam21 is correct. The MLS was structured to be viable in a market made for NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL. Team can only have 2 players above salary cap, which is very low compared to other sports. I think the MLS was very smart. I have been season ticket holder since Montreal is in the MLS. It's a fantastic show when you are a soccer fan. Still for me the best league to watch is the Champions league in England.

I do not think an NBA team in Montreal would survive. Over the years theres been rumour for the NFL and a lot of action to bring back a baseball team, but never hear any rumour about NBA. I think only a baseball team could make sense.

To get back to last night's game, I think it's one of the craziest game ever played in the MLS. It was such a battle. Toronto came back 3 times to win this serie. Each time Impact lead, I really tought ok this time Toronto is dead... But no they kept pressing, and scoring! Completely nuts.

One of the best game I ever saw was France beat Italy with a goal in the last few seconds of play, only to win in overtime at the final of Euro 2000. That was the year the Italians learned how to put back the cork on opened champagne bottle ;)

The 7 - 0 win of germany over brazil in the semi-final of the last mundial was for me the worst game to watch ever!

I'm not sure an NBA team would work in Mtl. I don't think they have enough population. I also don't think there's much of an NBA following in Mtl. Sure, they've had their last preseason games in Mtl over the past two years and they were both a huge success, but i'm not sure they could fill up the place for an entire season.

It would cost as much to attend an NBA game as an NHL game and since the NBA season parallels the NHL, i don't think it would work. Plus the fact the players would be paid in US dollars in a small market with a low dollar wouldn't look good.

And the NBA failed in Vancouver once, which would scare the league away from expanding in Canada. Mind you, i believe the NBA could have worked in Vancouver had the Grizzlies been managed properly. The Raptors' situation was equally a mess back then, but Vince Carter's arrival saved the franchise and many Canadian players now in the NBA are the direct result of the Raptors and especially Vince Carter's influence. And they've been successful ever since they were purchased by MLSE and have been selling out the ACC over the past few years.

With the Raptors, Blue Jays and now TFC, the sports market in Toronto is quite successful and i have no doubt the Leafs will be a very competitive team within the next 2-3 years. To have success, i've always believed that it starts at the top. When wise decisions are being made, teams will eventually succeed. This is what's been happening in Toronto. Finally!

I was watching both the Habs crunching the Avs and the soccer game. What a terrible ending for Toronto. Seatle won without a single shot targeted on goal for 120 minute! Unfortunately, it was an horrible game :(

In a championship game in ANY sport you should play the game until someone wins, not settle a season on silly penalty kicks.

Totally agree. It's a disgrace for the sport I love so much. Seatle was somehow able to pull that off. They had a good season and great playoff, deserve to be there. But TO should have win this one way final game.

I partly agree with your statement, but not for soccer. The way last night's game was going, they'd still be playing today if there were no penalty kicks. Sure, it's probably crappy to lose a championship decided on penalty kicks, but all they had to do to avoid this was to score in regulation or in the overtime periods.

It was for the championship, you play until you have a winner no matter how long it takes.
