Hello everyone. I would like to get suggestions on mobile phone. Having my credit card cloned recently and mobile apps numbers not being answered anymore by reputable agencies, I would like to buy a burner. I am not a secret agent (I consider myself just a simple nice guy) so I don't need it not to be trackable by cell towers or GPS but I would like not having PII such as my name or credit card attached to it to avoid personalized scam messages or any kind of bullshit like that.

I did find ChatR and Tracfone but that seems to be plans. I will likely forget to top-up these every months so I was looking more for a pay as you go than a plan. I had a cell in the 2000s that I can just add minutes whenever I need it and that is kinda what I would prefer if it still exists. But if it doesn't, it is what it is and I will pay a plan.

Any recommendations ? What you guys are using ?

Thank you

Chatr is pretty much pay as you go. It's very cheap, and you can decide not to use it for some months (up to 3 I think?) then top up again when you need it. It's not a monthly plan that you absolutely have to pay every month.

I would also be interested in knowing more on this as well. I pay so much money for my phone and i barely use it. Honestly unless i go to Montreal wich then i use it a bit more, the rest of the time if i use 15 minutes in the whole month its good. Yet it cost me 35$... If it wasn't for the fact that i have a very cool number and i need a cell for when i enjoy Montreal's delicacies ;) i would had probably cancel it and simply run with messenger for the few times i talk to friends.

7eleven has a pay as you go service, with or without plans, called speak out. You can buy a sim and add money to have it billed pay as you go or monthly. Only problem is that the closest 7eleven is in toronto. not sure if you can buy online. Used it many years ago when i was in toronto, was reliable then. not sure what the service is like now
