Unfortunately, I can't answer that question. I committed myself to being a moderator, and to me being fair and objective is my primary goal in all moderation actions.

While some may feel that this allows for more open, honest, candid discussion, it can leave you with a bad taste sometimes.

Being a MOD has nothing to do with how long one has been around. In my none MOD opinion, it has more to do with if one has enough intelligence, being able to stick with the rules, no favourtism to anyone and being discreet.Techman said:Hey! You haven't been around much since the new mods came on board. I was worried that you had some sort of allergy to new mods
thank you, thank you... but I am the 1st, 2nd and 3rd person to admit that I won't be any good as a MOD.Canadian Joe 652 said:With that said I nominate Orallover for MOD 8 3/4
As I have been asked in PMs by a few members, let me clarify some of my views regarding the responsibilities of the moderators:
- Read the board on a regular basis (at least daily).
- Read each and every thread in the forum(s) you moderates.
- Act upon factual information, not on suspicions (unless you make it clear in your communications)
- Be objective. No favoritism toward anyone, for any reason.
- Use common sense when the board's rules don't apply.
- Be ready to back your actions with proof, or at least be able to explain them if challenged about the underlying reasons.
- Respond to ALL PMs in a timely manner.
- USE COMMON SENSE.
Also, being a senior poster helps, but the key in being a good moderator is to have a good head on your shoulders, and not being afraid to do the right thing. MERB is not a "country club", it's a community service. As such, my view is that all posts should remain polite, respectful, interesting to read, truthful, and free of shills or useless comments as much as possible.
