I am curious about Montreal Casino security vs. security at the Connecticut casinos, which is notoriously harsh. I have represented two legal clients who were expelled from the Connecticut casinos, and both claimed harsh gorilla-like goon treatment by Casino Security. One of those clients was claimed to have sexually harassed a Casino employee, the other was alleged to have been counting cards. In both cases I was not successful in getting their privileges reinstated. I am NOT looking for business as I am not licensed in Canada, and have no desire to be or to get any such business. I am just curious.

I have learned a lot about Casino security through legal cases. They don't share security or surveillance video and you have to sue to get it. Ditto with any statements your clients give to them. Even if they're in writing they claim they are "proprietary information" and you need to sue and serve subpoenas to get them.

Can someone please comment on this issue.

Does blackjack here pay 3/2 or 6/5?
Note to all if one wants to partake. AVOID at all cost if BJ pays 6/5. You are being ripped off and you don’t even know it.
I think it depends on the stakes. The lowest stakes are usually 6/5, all stakes above that are 3/2 normally.

I got banned from Mohegan Sun in 2012 for six months. Oh yeah I was pulled by security and ended up in some windowless security office but there were cameras. There was one "supervisor" and two heavy set security guards. They were very polite yet it was tense.

This was because of my baccarat plays and a baccarat tournament I entered. You see in the game of baccarat you can record the results and you do not have to bet on every hand and you can sit things out until you find when it is favorable to bet. The amount I won in this tournament wasn't much. I came in third and got like $1,500. What got the casino's attention was how I recorded the results and the way I was betting which was just flat betting $150 to $200. What the casino does with these baccarat tournaments is to scope out people's way of recording the results to see if there are some sort of way "break" the game. Hey I don't know if the way how I record things is some holy grail or whatever. I just found something that worked for me and rode with it. I mean Vegas casinos didn't have an issue with the things I do. Other casinos didn't have an issue.

The supervisor was very polite and courteous but he laid it down that I was banned from the premises for six months and if I showed up before then I would be arrested. I signed the document and left the premises and hailed a cab and headed to Foxwoods.

I had a client who was similarly banned from Mohegan Sun and they claimed he was counting cards, but he claimed it was 100% legal and what he was banned for was winning. They were watching him on cameras because he had won a few times, I think just a few thousand dollars, nothing major. But they start watching the people who win because they hurt the Casino business model. Anyway, he claimed Security was really rough with him (I have no doubt he talked shit to them, because he is a shit-talker). He accused them of behaving like mobster-like goons, and dragging him to the office. This may have been partly exaggeration so I would take his case.

Honestly, I cannot remember if he was playing poker or Blackjack or what other card game it was, but probably the one where counting cards means something. I tended to believe the guy did have a talent for it, because I knew him from other dealings and he was a wizard in math and financial/tax matters. But the Rain Man routine is not going to fly up there.

Ahhh okay he was shit talking ha ha. Yeah that will get you the rough treatment. My situation was at the height and during the Phil Ivey baccarat fiasco so the casinos went bat shit when they see something deviating from the norm. I realized I was screwed so I took the calm and friendly approach to things so I was allowed back six months later but with many conditions and wagering restrictions. Oh well took it as a badge of honor and play at other places.

Yeah when you are doing well or lasting a very long time without constant buy ins the casino is going to take notice. They will try to politely slow down your game like what Wynn/Encore would do or outright kick you off the tables like what Mohegan Sun and Borgata did.

If ever one gets banned from the Montreal Casino they should consider themselves lucky ... more money’s will be available for this pastime ...and if they’re into playing poker they will still have the option to go to Playground close to the reserve ... as far as anyone having any sort of an edge at our local Casino I’m not that convinced with the way they stack their decks but you never know if there are folks with that kind of card counting skills ... to my knowledge Casinos don’t ban people that easily for winning... If they did that they would scare off legitimate gamblers
But I’ve seen some things over the years and I’ve also heard from people in the know that security mostly looks for groups of “sharps” that work together , but they do not worry so much for solo players ... they also pay close attention to the croupiers as any bad ones working with “sharps” can literally take the Casino for a ride ... as far as stories about folks being roughed up or overly intimidated by security for breaking some house rules I’d say they were a bit exaggerated since the Mob stopped running these establishments a long time ago ....

card counting is something that is useful in blackjack. it is of no use in poker because the single deck is reshuffled on every hand. Your client is correct - counting cards is not a crime in any state. What happens is that if a Casino believes you are card counting, they ban you. Once you are banned, if you set foot inside the casino again, you are guilty of trespassing. They take your picture and put it in a book. That's why you hear stories of card counters using disguises. They dont want to be recognized on the security cameras.

If you want the basics of card counting, watch the movie 21. If one person card counts on their own, they are discovered pretty easily because they change the amounts of their bets extreme ways that only make sense if they have a count. That is why MIT students (and others) count cards as a team. The big better moves from table to table only sitting down when the shoe is hot, always betting high amounts so they are not discovered.

Just wondering. Anyone see $10 Blackjack tables open of late (and what days)? I went a few weeks ago(during the week-maybe that was the issue) and nothing but $25 and up. I get it. Reduced numbers allowed in the casino at that time.

Cheers,
Fredd

Minimum $25 then $50 both at 8 decks hard 17. You can go in the "Platine" at $100 but 6 decks soft 17. A better game but need the bankroll to withstand the variance. Rumor has it that there no longer will you have $10 tables at CdM. No return with rising costs. Projected to have by the end of November direct dealer for baccarat and roulette streamed on-line. Again need to generate additional revenues. Only game in town if you want to play table games. Cash and tournnament poker games not until April 2022.

It is quite sad that many casinos closed due to quarantine, I loved that atmosphere. This is why I started to play online which gave me some headaches. It was quite hard in the beginning as there are many scammers, but I got used to it and now I know how to recognize them. Here https://www.canadacasinoplay.com I have found the best sites to play and also some guides on how to choose the best ones and how to not fall into the scammers' trap.

what I don't understand is why they don't just reshuffle more often or play with more card decks; this way they will throw away any card counting attempt

is the playground good for poker? Any hot women there?
There’s not a better place for poker, they have the biggest tournaments/cash games and world class dealers. Plus you won’t find another poker room with that many hot women in Canada for sure (waitress, masso, dealers and even some runners/cashiers are nice ladies)

I thought Playground was great, it's damn near perfect as a poker room. I've never been to Vegas so I can't compare it to legendary poker rooms like those found at the Aria or Bellagio but I can't see any place in Canada beating Playground.

Last time I went with a friend we played for 12 hours straight lol
